Kuselo Moyake (born 7 August 1986) is a South African-born Romanian rugby union player, currently playing with Romanian side Universitatea Cluj. [1] His regular position is flanker. He also plays for Romania's national team, the Oaks, making his international debut during Week 6 of the 2017 end-of-year rugby union internationals in a match against ʻIkale Tahi . [2] [3]

Career

He played for Border Country Districts at the 2004 Craven Week. He then represented UCT Ikey Tigers in the Varsity Cup between 2008 and 2010 and also played for a SK Walmers club side that qualified for the 2013 SARU Community Cup.

He was then signed by the Eastern Province Kings and included in their senior squad for the 2013 Vodacom Cup. He made his debut in the 20-all draw against the Pampas XV. [4]

He made his first appearance in the Currie Cup competition in the opening fixture of the 2013 Currie Cup First Division season, when he started the match against the Pumas. [5]

He was released by the EP Kings at the end of 2013 and joined Romanian SuperLiga side Baie Mare. [6] He scored one try for them during the 2014 Superliga season [7] to help them win the title. [8] From February 2016 until 2021 Kuselo was part of Steaua București rugby club. [9] He then transferred to Universitatea Cluj-Napoca.

CSM Știința Baia Mare Rugby team

CSM Știința Baia Mare is a professional Romanian rugby union club from Baia Mare, which plays in the CEC Bank SuperLiga, the first division of Romanian rugby. Ever since the second part of the 2010s decade, they have been the most successful rugby union team in Romania, achieving three championship titles and two of the King`s cups.

The 2011 Vodacom Cup was contested from 25 February to 13 May 2011. The tournament was the 14th edition of the Vodacom Cup, an annual domestic South African rugby union competition, and was played between the fourteen provincial teams in South Africa, as well as Namibian side Welwitschias and Argentine side Pampas XV.

The 2017–18 SuperLiga is the 104th season of premier club rugby in Romania. The current champions are Timișoara Saracens who managed to defend their title by defeating Știința Baia Mare. Since Politehnica Iași have faced financial issues, they will relegate to Divizia Națională de Seniori which means that both Tomitanii Constanța and Gloria Buzău will replace them next season. Also Timișoara Saracens, the winners of the CEC Bank SuperLiga will participate in the European Rugby Continental Shield.

The 2018–19 SuperLiga is the 105th season of premier club rugby in Romania. Starting with this edition the number of participating teams is increased to eight, with addition of the 2017–18 champions and runners-up of the second tier championship DNS - Divizia Nationala de Seniori. The eventual champions of the SuperLiga which are CSM Știința Baia Mare have the right to participate in the European Rugby Continental Shield and no team will relegate to the Divizia Națională de Seniori, Romiania's 2nd level rugby union competition as CS Năvodari didn't apply to play in the SuperLiga next season.

Cupa României (rugby union)

The Cupa României is a rugby union cup competition for Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1914 except for a couple of years where the cup was not held either because of World War II or other unknown reasons. It is the country's main cup competition, although not being open to all clubs affiliated with the Federaţia Română de Rugby (FRR) like in previous editions and only being open to the teams competing in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. In late March, it was announced that Tomitanii Constanța would not participate in the Cupa României for the 2021 season due to financial reasons.

The 2019 Cupa României was the 115th season of Romania`s national rugby union cup competition, reserved for club teams participating in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. Starting with this edition the number of participating teams has decreased to seven, due to CSM București dissolving before the start of the new season meaning all of CSM`s matches are to be cancelled.

2022 Liga Națională de Rugby season

The 2022 Liga Națională de Rugby is the 104th season of the top Romanian rugby union competition operated by the Romanian Rugby Federation. It comprises 14 teams in two regional groups, with the first two teams placed from each group at the end of the regular season qualifying for the league's play-offs.
