Kylie Whitehead (born 1994) is a female international Australian lawn bowler. [1]

Whitehead is of English and Walpiri background. [2] She was raised in Chiltern in north-east Victoria by her father's parents. [3]

Whitehead is a physiotherapist and studied physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University. [4]

Bowls career

Whitehead began playing bowls in 2010 at Wodonga Bowls Club alongside her grandfather. [3]

Whitehead won the 2019 World Singles Champion of Champions beating Debbie White in the final. [5] She was the 2017 Australian National Bowls Championships singles winner and has played over 100 state matches for Victoria. [1]

The World Singles Champion of Champions is an event inaugurated in 2003 that is contested annually between bowlers who have won their respective national singles title.

The Australian National Bowls Championships and the Australian Open are organised by Bowls Australia. Bowls dates back to 1845 in Australia but it was not until 1910, during the 1910 Carnival of bowls that South Australia proposed the formation of the Australian Bowling Council which duly formed the following year in 1911. The first National Singles Championships were held in 1913, with each state holding the Championships in turn. The Championships were also known as the Carnival at one stage.

World Bowls is an international sport federation of Bowls. World Bowls is one of several bowls organisations that administer bowls around the world and is responsible for the sports premier event, the World Bowls Championship which historically was held every four years but from 2023 will take place every two years.
