LaVaughn Macon (born October 21, 1987) is an indoor football/arena football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. Macon was signed by the BC Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2009. Macon completed his college career at New Mexico Highlands University.

College career

Santa Monica College

After high school Macon attended Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, where he continued his football career. Macon played as a running back for the Corsairs.

New Mexico Highlands

After earning his degree from Santa Monica, Maco continued his football career at New Mexico Highlands University. In his junior year, Macon played in 9 games, rushing 22 times for 82-yards, while also catching 10 passes for 59-yards and one touchdown. Macon also returned a team high, 8 kickoffs for 198 yards. [1] As a senior in 2008, Macon played in 10 games, rushing 8 times for 16-yards, while catching 29 passes for 309-yards and a touchdown. Macon also returned 16 kickoffs for 364-yards and 2 punts for 16-yards. [2]

Professional career

BC Lions

After graduation, Macon signed BC Lions of the Canadian Football League, where he spent two years as a practice squad member. [3]

Saginaw Sting

In 2011, Macon signed with the Saginaw Sting of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. [3] His 101 receptions for 1,184 yards and 32 touchdowns earned him a 2nd Team All-UIFL selection. [4] The Sting earned the 2nd seed in the UIFL playoffs, and defeated the Eastern Kentucky Drillers in Ultimate Bowl I. [4]

Wyoming Cavalry

In 2012, Macon played for the Wyoming Cavalry of the Indoor Football League. [5] Macon posted 53 receptions for 573 yards and 10 touchdowns. Macon also had 28 kickoff returns for 408 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bloomington Edge

In 2013, Macon played for the Bloomington Edge of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. Macon's return skills earned him honorable mention Special Teams Player of the Year. [6]

Utah Blaze

Macon joined the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League at the completion of the Edge season. [7] Macon pulled in 7 passes for the Blaze during their final 3 games, but his special teams presence made his presence felt. In the Blaze's final game of the season, Macon had 186-yards on 6 kickoff returns, returning one kickoff 54-yards for a touchdown. [8]

Los Angeles KISS

On March 18, 2015, Macon was assigned to the Los Angeles KISS. On March 20, 2015, Macon was placed on recallable reassignment.

New Mexico Stars

Macon signed with the New Mexico Stars for the 2016 season.

Mike Anthony Tatum is an American football coach who is the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Omaha Beef of the National Arena League (NAL). He is former indoor American football wide receiver for the Nebraska Danger, Bismarck Bucks and the Sioux Falls Storm of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football at Oxnard College. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Marion Mayhem in 2009. He played with the Mayhem until their disbanding during the 2010 season. Tatum then finished the 2010 season with the Fort Wayne FireHawks. Tatum then returned to Marion in 2011, when a new franchise called the Marion Blue Racers expanded into the CIFL. Tatum has also played for the Everett Raptors of the IFL.

The Ultimate Bowl was the annual championship game of the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL). In 2011, it was the meeting of the two semifinal game winners. In 2012, it was the meeting of the winners of the North and South Divisions.

The 2011 Eastern Kentucky Drillers season was the 1st season for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. On November 26, 2010, the UIFL announced that the team in Pikeville, Kentucky would be named the Eastern Kentucky Drillers. The Drillers lost their first game in franchise history, a 44–49 defeat to the hands of the Saginaw Sting. Even in the defeat, two Drillers, won the first ever Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week Awards in the history of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The following week, the Drillers played their first ever home game at Eastern Kentucky Expo Center, and in front of 3,500 fans, the Drillers won 37–26 over the Huntington Hammer. The Drillers were able to finish the season with an 8–6 record. In the playoffs, they defeated the Huntington Hammer, and advanced to Ultimate Bowl I, where they lost to the Saginaw Sting.

The 2011 Northern Kentucky River Monsters season was the first season for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. Announced as a startup team for the newly formed Ultimate Indoor Football League in 2010, the team was purchased by Jill Chitwood from the UIFL in February 2011. Just a week before the season began, team General Manager, Jared Lorenzen, relieved himself of his duties as general manager, and became the quarterback for the franchise. In the River Monsters first ever game they defeated the Canton Cougars by a score of 63–41. With a Week 9 win over the Saginaw Sting, the River Monsters had clinched a postseason berth in their first season, clinching home field advantage throughout the playoffs. After wrapping up the season, the UIFL had discovered that the River Monsters had been paying their players over the league's salary cap. The UIFL stripped the River Monsters of the #1 seed and made them the #4 seed, taking away the River Monster's chance to earn playoff money. The River Monster now traveled to Saginaw, Michigan to play the Sting, where the Sting upset the River Monsters 48–47. On June 6, 2011, it was announced that the UIFL and the River Monsters mutually agreed to part ways, leaving the team free to join another league. However, the UIFL had a lease agreement with the arena, which hampered the likelihood the River Monsters would play in Highland Heights in 2012. The team had been mentioned as a charter member Stadius Football Association, but that league never got off the ground.

The 2011 Saginaw Sting season was the 3rd season for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. After not faring well during their only season in the IFL, the Sting For the 2011 season, the team was purchased by San Diego-based business man, Mike Esposito. Esposito announced that the team would play in the newly formed Ultimate Indoor Football League, which Esposito was also the league's commissioner. He hired Stuart Schweigert as the Sting's Director of Player Development. After a 2-1 start, John Mize was fired for failing to submit a game roster before the Wednesday night deadline, causing the Sting to play a game short handed, that they eventually lost 37-38. He was replaced by assistant coach Vince Leveille. The Sting went on to win the Ultimate Bowl, with quarterback Tommy Jones setting several UIFL passing records and claiming the Ultimate Bowl's MVP honors. Ultimate Indoor Football League franchise. The Sting were able to finish the season with a 10-4 record, and won the Ultimate Bowl over the Eastern Kentucky Drillers.
