La Cantera Golf Club is a golf club located in the La Cantera district of San Antonio, Texas, USA. The club played host to the Valero Texas Open, an annual tournament on the PGA Tour, from 1995 to 2009. [1] It is owned by USAA Real Estate. [2]

La Cantera is a master-planned development and district of the City of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas, on the city's Northwest Side. "La Cantera" is Spanish for "the quarry", in reference to what the district was before USAA turned it to a 178-acre (0.72 km2) mixed-use master-planned development.

Winged Foot Golf Club was founded in 1921, by a consortium consisting mainly of members of The New York Athletic Club. The club gets its name and logo from the NYAC's logo, but the two have never had any direct affiliation. Winged Foot G.C. opened in June 1923. Application for membership is by invitation only.

The Valero Texas Open is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, played near San Antonio, Texas. It dates back 97 years to 1922, when it was first called the Texas Open; San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation took over naming rights in 2002. It is played at The Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio, northeast of the city. The Valero Energy Foundation is the host organization for the Valero Texas Open.

As a part of a restructuring of the schedule, the event will move to the fall in 2019. The Shops at La Cantera is an open-air regional shopping mall located in La Cantera, San Antonio, near the Texas State Highway Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 interchange, on the city's Northwest Side. The initial phase of the project opened on September 16, 2005. The 1,300,000-square-foot (120,000 m2) center sits on a 150-acre (0.61 km2) site in La Cantera, a 1,700-acre (6.9 km2) master-planned resort community developed by USAA Real Estate Company. La Cantera is also home to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, La Cantera Resort & Spa and two world-class golf courses, The Palmer Course at La Cantera and the Resort Course, which was home to the PGA Valero Texas Open.
