Labou is a 2008 American independent adventure film written and directed by Greg Aronowitz, based on a story by Aronowitz and producer Sheri Bryant. It was released by MGM on May 19, 2009. Greg Aronowitz was heavily involved with Power Rangers S.P.D. and directed many of the episodes. [1] Many of the same actors that appeared in that season of Power Rangers are also seen in Labou, including Chris Violette, Kelson Henderson, Barnie Duncan and Monica May. The film has received three prestigious awards including Best of Fest at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, Best Family Feature at WorldFest 2008 Houston, and Best Feature at Bam Kids Film Festival in NY; and has also been approved by the Dove Foundation, KidsFirst!, and NAPPA.
Production was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina, forcing the cast and crew to abandon production and return early 2006. [2] The film has a dedication at the end to the people of New Orleans.
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin stars in Labou as the Mayor of New Orleans. Local jazz legend Ellis Marsalis plays the wise "Jazz Man" in the picture.
Drew Struzan designed the film's poster and the website was created by Ian J. Duncan. [3]
Three unlikely friends set out on a journey to find the dreaded Ghost of Captain LeRouge whose treasure laden ship was lost in the Louisiana bayou over two hundred years ago. What they find is an adventure beyond their wildest imagination and the magical swamp creature "Labou" whose whistles are rumored to be the original inspiration for jazz.
With the help of Labou, the kids race to stay one step ahead of two crazy oil tycoons and discover the long lost treasure in time to save the swamps from destruction.

Power Rangers is an entertainment and merchandising franchise created by Haim Saban, Shuki Levy and Shotaro Ishinomori and built around a live-action superhero television series, based on Japanese tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai and currently owned by American toy and entertainment company Hasbro through a dedicated subsidiary, SCG Power Rangers LLC. Power Rangers S.P.D. is the thirteenth season of the television series Power Rangers and is based on the 28th Super Sentai series Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. The initials in the title stand for "Space Patrol Delta"; in Dekaranger, it stood for Special Police Dekaranger. The season debuted on February 5, 2005 as part of Jetix, originally airing on ABC Family; beginning with "Messenger, Part 2", the series moved to Toon Disney.
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is an annual celebration of local music and culture held at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jazz Fest attracts thousands of visitors to New Orleans each year. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation Inc., as it is officially named, was established in 1970 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (NPO). The Foundation is the original organizer of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell Oil Company, a corporate financial sponsor. The Foundation was established primarily to redistribute the funds generated by Jazz Fest into the local community. As an NPO, their mission further states that the Foundation "promotes, preserves, perpetuates and encourages the music, culture and heritage of communities in Louisiana through festivals, programs and other cultural, educational, civic and economic activities". The founders of the organization included pianist and promoter George Wein, producer Quint Davis and the late Allison Miner.

Elizabeth Grace Nell Allen is a New Zealand actress. She has been acting since an early age and has appeared in several small productions and commercials since 1993. Her first major television role was in Cloud 9's The Legend of William Tell in 1998, in which she played Princess Vara. Internationally known for her role as Amber in The Tribe, she took on the role in 1998 for the first series, before deciding to leave the show to concentrate on her school work. The season uses footage and other material from the 30th Super Sentai series GoGo Sentai Boukenger, which celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of that franchise. In addition, this season's team-up episode, "Once a Ranger", commemorates the fifteenth anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise. The season premiered on February 26, 2007, on Toon Disney's Jetix programming block. It was the first season to use high definition/widescreen footage from the Super Sentai franchise, although this footage was scaled down & cropped to 4:3 aspect ratio until RPM.
