Nunatsiavut is an autonomous area claimed by the Inuit in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The settlement area includes territory in Labrador extending to the Quebec border. In 2002, the Labrador Inuit Association submitted a proposal for limited autonomy to the government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The constitution was ratified on December 1, 2005, at which time the Labrador Inuit Association ceased to exist, and the new Government of Nunatsiavut was established, initially being responsible for health, education and cultural affairs. It is also responsible for setting and conducting elections, the first of which was executed in October 2006. An election for the ordinary members of the Nunatsiavut Assembly was held on May 4, 2010. Its incumbent president is Johannes Lampe who assumed office in 2016.
The Grenfell Mission was a philanthropic organization that provided medical and social services to people in rural communities of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. It was founded by Sir Wilfred Grenfell in 1892 as a branch of The Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen based in Britain.
Portugal Cove–St. Philip's is a rural seashore community located on the eastern Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The town is a bedroom community of the provincial capital of St. John's.
McCallum is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. McCallum is located on the southern coast of the island of Newfoundland. It is accessible only by boat or by air, and in appearance and way of life is thought by some to be as close to a pre-20th century community as may be found. McCallum lies in an enclosed harbour and is sheltered between two hills. The community survives primarily on the fishery. Whaling was also a major industry in the late 19th century. The provincial government runs a ferry service to McCallum from the nearby town of Hermitage, about an hour and a half away by boat, where the nearest road is located.
Gaultois is a small settlement in the Coast of Bays area in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Gaultois had a population of 100 people in the 2021 census. The town has a K-12 school called Victoria Academy, as well as a fire department, public library, Lion's Club, and town hall. The town is only accessible by ferry or helicopter. The provincial government ferry runs from the nearby town of Hermitage several times daily and the crossing takes approximately 20 minutes. This ferry also services the more remote community of McCallum once to twice daily with a crossing time of around one hour and fifteen minutes. In 2015, Gaultois voted against resettlement. Gaultois considered resettlement again in 2023 but it failed.

Grand Bruit is a designated place and former settlement in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the southwestern coast of the island of Newfoundland. Grand Bruit was resettled in 2010. The community was divided down the middle by a waterfall, hence the name "Grand Bruit" which is French for "great noise".

The Grenfell Art Gallery is a contemporary art museum on Grenfell Campus, Memorial University in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Established in 1988, the gallery is closely associated with the university's visual arts program, and is situated on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building on campus. As of 2018, the Grenfell Art Gallery is the only museum in Newfoundland and Labrador with a sole focus on visual art. Its collection includes more than 5,000 works spanning Canadian historical and contemporary art. As of 2017, its director is Matthew Hills. Previous directors include Colleen O'Neill (1988-1998), Gail Tuttle (1998-2008), and Charlotte Jones (2009-2017). The Grenfell Gallery facilitates the North-West-River-Artist-In-Residence. It has also hosted artists in residence at Grenfell Campus.
Tony Wakeham is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in the 2019 provincial election, and was re-elected in the 2021 provincial election. He represents the electoral district of Stephenville-Port au Port as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Progressive Conservative Party. On January 17, 2023, Wakeham announced he would be a candidate in the 2023 provincial PC leadership election. He won the election and became Leader of the Opposition.

He represents the electoral district of St. John's Centre as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party. He was re-elected in the 2021 Newfoundland and Labrador general election.
John Abbott is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in the 2021 provincial election. He defeated the leader of the New Democratic Party, Alison Coffin, to represent the electoral district of St. John's East-Quidi Vidi as a member of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. On April 8, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development. On May 12, 2021, Supreme Court Justice Donald Burrage rejected Coffin's bid for a recount, arguing that there was not sufficient evidence. Abbott was subsequently sworn in as MHA on May 18, 2021. On June 14, 2023, he was appointed Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

He served as Minister of Government Services and Lands, and Minister Responsible for Labrador in the cabinet of Brian Tobin and as Minister of Development and Rural Renewal in the cabinet of premier Roger Grimes.
