To promote local culture, Lakuri has a community radio station, Radio Dhrubatara FM (Nepali : रेडियो ध्रुवतारा एफ एम; Nepali pronunciation:  [reɖiyo dʱrubʌtara epʰ em] ), which broadcasts at 89.8 MHz. Dhrubatara means "pole star".
