Lanierland Music Park was a country music venue in the town of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. [1] The venue was opened in 1970 and hosted notable musical acts until 2006. [2] The venue's land was then converted to Lanierland Park, [3] a Forsyth County Parks and Recreation facility for community use.
Lanierland Music Park was founded in 1970 by Forsyth County-natives, C.E."Crant" Samples and M.L. "Shorty" Hamby, as an 1800-person music venue under a tent. [4] The venue opened with Hank Williams Jr. performing two sold-out shows. In order to extend capital and grow the venue, eventually new owners Leon Jones, Robert Jones and Tommy Bagwell were added to the team. As the venue grew, ownership dwindled to Leon Jones and his wife, Brenda, as well as Tommy Bagwell. [5]
In 1973 the tent was replaced by a large, metal, open-air pavilion with folding chairs. Though the overhang changed, the sawdust floors remained until the venue's closing, providing a unique acoustical experience. At the time of its closing, the venue boasted a 100-foot stage and seating for 4,346. [4] Brenda Jones' mother, known as Mama Lois, [6] provided performers with a home-cooked southern meal prior [7] to each performance.

The county's only incorporated city and county seat is Cumming. At the 2020 census, the population was 251,283. Georgia State Route 400 is a freeway and state highway in the U.S. state of Georgia serving parts of Metro Atlanta. It is concurrent with U.S. Route 19 (US 19) from exit 4 (Interstate 285) until its northern terminus south-southeast of Dahlonega, linking the city of Atlanta to its north-central suburbs and exurbs. SR 400 travels from the Lindbergh neighborhood in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, at Interstate 85 (I-85), to just south-southeast of Dahlonega. Like the Interstate highways, it is a limited-access road, but unlike the interstates, the exit numbers are not mileage-based, they are sequential. Once SR 400 passes exit 18 (SR 369), it changes from a limited-access freeway into an at-grade divided highway with traffic lights, but still with a high speed limit of 65 miles per hour (105 km/h), and ends at the J.B. Jones Intersection at SR 60/SR 115 in Lumpkin County.

The Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas (USA) has been called, Texas' Most Historic Music Venue and since its inception has had a colorful set of proprietors. Originally built by O.L. Nelms, an eccentric Dallas millionaire, for his close friend, western swing bandleader Bob Wills, the venue opened in 1950 as Bob Wills' Ranch House. When Wills left In the early 50s Nelms leased the sprawling venue to notorious nightclub owner turned assassin Jack Ruby. Mr. Ruby eventually had a nervous breakdown and lost the lease, but he is credited with hosting some of the best black entertainers of the day including Count Basie, Ruth Brown, and Nat King Cole. The Nat King Cole show took place in 1954 in the racially segregated Jim Crow South, where an affluent black audience sat in front, in the premium seats, while the white patrons stood in the back to listen to the legend.

Ponce de Leon Springs was a mineral spring in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. The spring was a popular tourist destination from the mid-1800s through the early 1900s. Around the turn of the century, the land surrounding the spring was developed into an amusement park. By the 1920s, the amusement park was demolished, and the area was developed for industrial and, later, commercial properties.
The Paramount Theatre was a movie palace in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The building was designed by Philip T. Shutze and was completed in 1920 as the Howard Theatre, a name it kept until 1929. It was located at 169 Peachtree Street, in an area that soon became the location of several other major theaters, earning it the nickname "Broadway of the South". With a seating capacity of 2,700, it was at the time the second largest movie theater in the world, behind only the Capitol Theatre in New York City. In addition to functioning as a movie theater, the building hosted live performances, with several nationally renowned orchestras playing at the venue through the 1940s and Elvis Presley playing at the theater in 1956. By the 1950s, however, movie palaces faced increased competition from smaller movie theaters and the rise in popularity of television, and the Paramount was demolished in 1960.

Located in Buckhead, Atlanta, Tongue & Groove is the longest running nightclub and lounge in Atlanta. Originally opened at Buckhead Village in 1994, the nightclub relocated in 2007 to its current Buckhead location, just off of Piedmont Road. The venue regularly hosts events and features musical guests from around the world. It is owned and operated by Michael Krohngold, Scott Strumlauf, and David Kreidler. It has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today and Atlanta Magazine. It was also featured on TMZ and E! Entertainment News.
Geoffrey L. Duncan is an American politician, businessman, and public speaker who served as the 12th lieutenant Governor of Georgia from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, Duncan is a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The StarWalk in Nashville, Tennessee, was an outdoor display of cement plaques honoring country music artists who had won Grammy Awards. Honorees left handprints and other personal markings along with written messages in the cement in the manner of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. At its opening, it was touted as "the country music equivalent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame".

The Old Atlanta Prison Farm is an abandoned, city-owned prison complex in southwest DeKalb County in the U.S. state of Georgia. From approximately 1920 to 1990, the farm was worked by prisoners to produce food for the region's prison system. There are limited historical records detailing the operation of the farm, especially after 1965.
