Schmidt made her debut on the WTA Tour in 2016 when she received a wildcard for the qualification rounds of the 2016 Nürnberger Versicherungscup. [3]

She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2018 Nürnberger Versicherungscup in the doubles draw, partnering Jule Niemeier.
