The World Football League (WFL) was an American football league that played one full season in 1974 and most of its second in 1975. Although the league's proclaimed ambition was to bring American football onto a worldwide stage, the farthest the WFL reached was placing a team – the Hawaiians – in Honolulu, Hawaii. The league folded midway through its second season, in 1975. A new minor football league began play as the World Football League in 2008 after acquiring the rights to its trademarks and intellectual property; it folded in 2011.
Vito "Babe" Parilli was an American football quarterback and coach who played professionally for 18 seasons. Parilli spent five seasons in the National Football League (NFL), three in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and 10 in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he twice received consensus All-American honors and won two consecutive bowl games.
William Earl Bergey is an American former football linebacker who played professionally for 12 seasons, most notably with the Philadelphia Eagles of National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals of the American Football League (AFL) in 1969, the year before the AFL–NFL merger was completed, and continued to play with the Bengals in the NFL until 1973. Bergey subsequently signed with the Eagles the following year, where he played seven seasons until retiring in 1981.
The Birmingham Vulcans were a professional American football team located in Birmingham, Alabama. They were members of the five-team Eastern Division of the World Football League (WFL). The Vulcans, founded in March 1975, played in the upstart league's second and final season in 1975. The team was owned by a group of Birmingham businessmen with Ferd Weil as team president.

David Euell Roller is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Prior to his professional career, Roller played college football for the University of Kentucky, where he received multiple commendations for his athletic accomplishments, including induction into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. Roller was drafted by the New York Giants in the 13th round of the 1971 NFL Draft as the 330th overall pick. He played for the Giants for one season, before a brief stint playing in the World Football League. He returned to the NFL in 1975 with the Green Bay Packers, where he would go on to play for four seasons. He left Green Bay in 1979 to play for the Minnesota Vikings for two seasons before retiring from professional football. Altogether, Roller played in the NFL for seven seasons and appeared in 92 games.
James Lee Evenson was a running back who played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the British Columbia Lions and the Ottawa Rough Riders. Evenson won the Eddie James Memorial Trophy in 1971. He was a part of the Rough Riders 1973 Grey Cup winning team. Evenson played college football at University of Oregon. He finished his career with a brief stint with the Portland Thunder of the up-start WFL, where he rushed for 439 yards on 99 carries scoring one touchdown. Evenson also caught 18 passes for 108 yards. Evenson died on January 30, 2008, at the age of 61.
Robert Michael Lally is a former American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) and the World Football League (WFL). Lally played collegiate ball for Cornell University and served as team captain. He was a First-team Selection to the Silver Anniversary All-Ivy Football Team (1971), a Cornell Hall of Fame Inductee (1982) and was selected to the Cornell All-Time Football Team (1887–2003). At Cornell, Lally was also President of the Red Key Society and was a member of the Quill and Dagger Society. He played prep football for Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame (1991).
The World Football League was a professional American Football minor league which operated for three seasons, from 2008 through 2010. It was named for the short-lived World Football League which served as a competitor to the NFL in the mid-1970s.
James Sims is a former National Football League (NFL) linebacker who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976. He attended Locke High School, Los Angeles Harbor College and the University of Southern California before being selected by the New York Giants in the 12th round in the 1974 NFL draft. Sims was a 19th round of the Hawaiians in the 1974 WFL College draft. However, Sims played for the New York Stars and Charlotte Hornets of the World Football League in 1974. The Hornets traded Sims to the Southern California Sun (WFL) in 1975.
Mark Peter Kellar was an American football running back who played three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 1974 NFL Draft. He played college football at Northern Illinois University and attended Irving Crown High School in Carpentersville, Illinois. Kellar was also a member of the Chicago Fire, Chicago Winds and San Antonio Wings of the World Football League (WFL).
Thomas Eric Smith is a former American football running back who played one season with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL) and one season for the Jacksonville Sharks of the World Football League (WFL).
The Bangladesh Women's Football League ,officially known as UCB Women's Football League for sponsorship reasons and simply as WFL, is the highest level of women's club football competition of Bangladesh. Established in 2011, the league is run by Bangladesh Football Federation.
