Greenland is a North American autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is the largest autonomous territory within the Kingdom and one of two such territories within the Kingdom, the others being the Faroe Islands; the citizens of both territories as well as Denmark proper are all citizens of Denmark. As Greenland is one of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union, citizens of Greenland are European Union citizens. The capital and largest city of Greenland is Nuuk. Greenland lies between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It is the world's largest island, as well as the northernmost area of the world – Kaffeklubben Island off the northern coast is the world's northernmost undisputed point of land, and Cape Morris Jesup on the mainland was thought to be so until the 1960s.

Nuuk is the capital of and most populous city in Greenland, an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark. Nuuk is the seat of government and the territory's largest cultural and economic center. The major cities from other countries closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. John's in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains a third of Greenland's population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. In January 2023, it had a population of 19,604. Nuuk is considered a modernized city after the policy began in 1950.

The astronomical discoveries of Tycho Brahe (1546–1601), Ludwig A. Colding's (1815–1888) neglected articulation of the principle of conservation of energy, and the foundational contributions to atomic physics of Niels Bohr (1885–1962); in this century Lene Vestergaard Hau in quantum physics involving the stopping of light, advances in nano-technology, and contributions to the understanding of Bose-Einstein Condensates, demonstrate the range and endurance of Danish scientific achievement.
Ilulissat, formerly Jakobshavn or Jacobshaven, is the municipal seat and largest town of the Avannaata municipality in western Greenland, located approximately 350 km (220 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. With the population of 4,670 as of 2020, it is the third-largest city in Greenland, after Nuuk and Sisimiut. The city is home to almost as many sled-dogs as people.
Siumut is a political party in Greenland in the social democratic tradition. Since the establishment of home rule in 1979, it has been the dominant party in Greenland. Siumut is led by Erik Jensen, who beat the then-incumbent Prime Minister Kim Kielsen in a tight leadership contest in late 2020.

Uummannaq is a town in the Avannaata municipality, in central-western Greenland. Founded in 1763 as Omenak, the town is a hunting and fishing base, with a canning factory and a marble quarry. In 1932, the Universal Greenland-Filmexpedition with director Arnold Fanck released the film S.O.S. Eisberg near Uummannaq.

Otto Rosing is a Greenlandic/Danish film director. He grew up in Ilulissat, Greenland, and later resided in Greenland's capital Nuuk. He now lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. In collaboration with film producer Mikisoq H. Lynge, Otto Rosing and Torben Bech directed Greenland's first international feature film Nuummioq. It was the first Greenlandic film to be submitted for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but it didn't make the final shortlist.
Nuummioq is a 2009 Greenlandic drama film directed by Otto Rosing and Torben Bech and produced by Mikisoq H. Lynge. Nuummioq means "a man from Nuuk" in the Greenlandic language. Nuummioq premiered in Nuuk on 31 October 2009.
Pilersuisoq is a chain of all-purpose general stores in Greenland, a major division of the state-owned KNI conglomerate. Like its parent company, it is based in Sisimiut (Holsteinsborg), the second-largest town in Greenland.
Eksperimentet is a 2010 Danish drama film written and directed by Louise Friedberg, and starring Ellen Hillingsø. The film premiered on 28 August 2010 in the Katuaq Culture Centre in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. The release date of the film in Denmark was 9 September 2010.
Ellen Gunilla Hillingsø is a Danish actress who is known primarily for her work in films. She is also a voice actress, narrating audio books.
Greenland is one of the 12 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of the Kingdom of Denmark. The constituency was established in 1975 following the merger of the two constituencies that covered Greenland. The constituency currently elects two of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 general election it had 41,305 registered electors.
