Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen:Live in Dallas is a live blues album,recorded in Dallas,Texas,in October 2004 by Henry James Townsend,Joe Willie "Pinetop" Perkins,Robert Lockwood Jr. and David "Honeyboy" Edwards. At the event,the four blues legends were from 89 to 94 years old and represented the last performers of Delta blues from the 1920s. The concert was arranged by the 501(c)(3) non-profit The Blue Shoes Project,which aims to preserve and spread awareness of roots music amongst students. [1]
Two years after the concert,both Lockwood and Townsend were dead,and by early 2011,only Edwards was still alive. He died later that year.
In 2007,the album was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album [2] and won the following February at the 50th Grammy Awards. [3] It was also nominated for a Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Album of the Year. [4] By January 2009,the album had sold less than 1,000 copies. [1]
Robert Leroy Johnson was an American blues musician and songwriter. His landmark recordings in 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing,guitar skills,and songwriting talent that has influenced later generations of musicians. Although his recording career spanned only seven months,he is recognized as a master of the blues,particularly the Delta blues style,and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as maybe "the first ever rock star".
Robert Lockwood Jr. was an American Delta blues guitarist,who recorded for Chess Records and other Chicago labels in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the only guitarist to have learned to play directly from Robert Johnson. Robert Lockwood was one of the first professional black entertainers to appear on radio in the South,on the King Biscuit Time radio show. Lockwood is known for his longtime collaboration with Sonny Boy Williamson II and for his work in the mid-1950s with Little Walter.
Mississippi is best known as the home of the blues which developed among the freed African Americans in the latter half of the 19th century and beginning 20th century. The Delta blues is the style most closely associated with the state,and includes performers like Charley Patton,Robert Johnson,David "Honeyboy" Edwards,Willie Brown,Tommy Johnson,Ishmon Bracey,Bo Carter,Sam Chatmon,Mississippi John Hurt,Furry Lewis,Son House,Skip James,Muddy Waters,Howlin' Wolf,John Lee Hooker,Pinetop Perkins,and B.B. King. The hip hop scene of Mississippi is rare but includes performers such as David Banner,Dear Silas,and more.
David "Honeyboy" Edwards was a Delta blues guitarist and singer from Mississippi.
Joe Willie "Pinetop" Perkins was an American blues pianist. He played with some of the most influential blues and rock-and-roll performers of his time and received numerous honors,including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the Blues Hall of Fame.
Henry "Mule" Townsend was an American blues singer,guitarist and pianist.
Jimmy D. Lane is an American electric blues guitarist.
Blues Jam in Chicago is a studio recording by the British rock band Fleetwood Mac,originally released in two single-LP volumes by Blue Horizon in December 1969. It was the result of a recording session in early 1969 at Chess Records in Chicago with Fleetwood Mac,then a young British blues band,and a number of famous Chicago blues artists from whom they drew inspiration. The album has also been released,with slightly different track listings,under the titles Blues Jam at Chess Volumes One and Two and Fleetwood Mac in Chicago,the latter by Sire Records in 1976.

Document Records is an independent record label,founded in Austria and now based in Scotland,that specializes in reissuing vintage blues and jazz. The company has been recognised by The Blues Foundation,being honoured with a Keeping the Blues Alive Award in 2018. Document Records is the only UK-based recipient of the award.

Marquise Knox is an American blues rock singer,guitarist,and songwriter. Knox has performed alongside B.B. King,Pinetop Perkins and David "Honeyboy" Edwards. He has also performed at dozens of festivals,and toured across the US and Europe.
