Ann Arbor is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the seat of government of Washtenaw County. The 2020 census recorded its population to be 123,851, making it the fifth-largest city in Michigan. It is the principal city of the Ann Arbor Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Washtenaw County. Ann Arbor is also included in the Greater Detroit Combined Statistical Area and the Great Lakes megalopolis, the most populated and largest megalopolis in North America.
The City of Dexter is a city situated in Washtenaw County, Michigan, in the United States. As of the 2021 Census, the city's population was recorded at 6,644. Residential areas in Dexter include the original settlements along the Baker Road, Central Street, and Dexter-Ann Arbor Road corridors, as well as newer subdivisions and condominiums in both the eastern and western parts of town.
Robert Alan Haber is an American activist. In 1960 he was elected the first president of the now-defunct Students for a Democratic Society, a radical student activist organization with ties to the Weather Underground. FBI files at the time indicated his official title as Field Secretary. Described variously at the time as "Ann Arbor's resident radical" and "reticent visionary", Haber organized a human rights conference in April of that year which "marked the debut of SDS" and invited four organizers of the 1960 NAACP sit-ins against segregated lunch counters in Greensboro, North Carolina.
M-17 is a 6.390-mile-long (10.284 km) state trunkline highway in the U.S. state of Michigan, connecting the cities of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor in Washtenaw County. It was once part of a highway that spanned the southern Lower Peninsula of Michigan before the creation of the U.S. Highway System in 1926. The designation once extended into downtown Detroit, but the eastern terminus was progressively scaled back in the late 1960s to the current location in Ypsilanti. The changes made to the highways in Washtenaw County spawned Business M-17, a business loop for 11 years between 1945 and 1956.

Alma Wheeler Smith is a politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. She was most recently a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 54th District, which includes the city of Ypsilanti, Augusta Township, Salem Township, Superior Township, and Ypsilanti Township in Washtenaw County, from 2005 to 2010. A Democrat, she sat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, served two terms in the Michigan Senate from 1995 to 2002, and sought her party's nomination for Governor of Michigan in 2010.

The Wireless Washtenaw project was originally an ambitious plan to provide free wireless broadband access throughout Washtenaw County, Michigan by April 2008 "without a burden on taxpayers". To accomplish this, it was to rely upon a public/ private sector partnership between the Washtenaw County government and 20/20 Communications. In March 2010, due to a failure to qualify for a certain anticipated federal stimulus grant, 20/20 Communications sold most of its operations to 123Net. 20/20 Communications however continues to be 123.net's sales representative for the Washtenaw County area via its website and sales office.

The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) is a public library system that serves the residents of the Ann Arbor, Michigan school district. The Downtown Library, located at 343 South Fifth Avenue, was dedicated in 1957 and had building additions in 1974 and 1991. AADL also includes four branch libraries: Malletts Creek, Traverwood, Pittsfield, and Westgate. The library system holds over 490,000 materials – books, DVDs, compact discs, magazines, audio books and other formats. More than 1.5 million people came through the doors of the AADL system in 2011–12, and circulation of library materials topped 8.5 million. In 1997, the Library was named “National Library of the Year” by Library Journal, the first library in Michigan to receive the honor. In 2021, for the 14th year in a row, AADL earned five stars in the Library Journal’s annual ratings of public libraries across the nation.
WALLY was a commuter rail service proposed in 2008 which would have linked the Michigan cities of Ann Arbor and Howell. It never got past the planning stages.
The Bookstore Mural is an outdoor mural by Richard Wolk located on the corner of Liberty Street and State Street in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, US. The mural is an Ann Arbor icon, and is one of the city's most well-known pieces of public art. The work, colloquially referred to as the Bookstore Mural, was painted in 1984, and was commissioned by David's Books, the building's former occupants. The mural depicts the headshots of Woody Allen, Edgar Allan Poe, Hermann Hesse, Franz Kafka, and Anaïs Nin. It is approximately 60 by 20 feet.

Michelle Regalado Deatrick is an American politician, activist, and poet. Deatrick serves as the elected National Chair of the Democratic National Committee's Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis, which she founded in August, 2019. Deatrick also served as a surrogate and 2020 Michigan co-chair for the Bernie Sanders campaign. She served in the Peace Corps in East Africa, and as Vice Chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners. Elected to the Democratic National Committee in 2016, she was also elected Midwest Representative to the DNC Women's Caucus in 2018. Deatrick was the Special Projects Director in Michigan for the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, and stumped for Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. She was a policy analyst at Stanford University. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University (Connecticut) and holds Master's degrees from Harvard University and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Deatrick is also a member of UAW Local 2320 and serves as a delegate to her regional labor federation. She serves on the board of directors of the Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy. In addition to her political career, she has won several national poetry fellowships and awards.
