Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and combat sport involving punching and kicking techniques. The word Taekwondo can be translated as tae, kwon, and do. Lauren Chantel Burns is an Australian taekwondo practitioner and Olympic champion. Following her competitive taekwondo career, she has been involved in a range of activities, including motivational speaking and community work.

However, there were no Puerto Rican medalists at the Beijing Olympics. McWilliams Arroyo, a boxer, bore Puerto Rico's flag at the ceremonies.
Robin Haeyoun Cheong is a New Zealand taekwondo athlete, who competed in the Women's 57 kg class at the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China reaching quarter finals and eventually ranked 7th. She won gold medal that same year in the Beijing Olympic Selection competition.
Hedaya Malak Wahba is an Egyptian taekwondo practitioner. She participated in the Olympic Games in London in 2012, won a bronze medal in Rio 2016, and another bronze medal in Tokyo 2020.

Nada Laaraj is a Moroccan taekwondo practitioner. She has won gold medals in the women's 57 kg event at the African Games, the Islamic Solidarity Games and the African Taekwondo Championships. She also represented Morocco at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Haiti competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's seventeenth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1900.

Alasan Ann is an American-Gambian taekwondo practitioner. He qualified to represent The Gambia at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
