In episode 1, Lauren's central episode, it is revealed almost immediately that, unlike the rest of the students at Britannia High, Lauren didn't have to audition, and was invited by the school's head, which Lauren's enemy Claudine Cameron reveals to the whole group, with them all learning to forget about it, but Claudine refuses to drop it. Lauren has a hard time learning the dance routines, and when it is revealed they have a week to learn a routine for a performance, that the group will also be assessed on, Lauren panics, and struggles even more. After failing every single attempt to do a lift, Danny steps in, and does his best to help, but with no success. On performance night, Lauren decides to quit, but to do the performance first, but refusing to the lift, which Danny understands, and doesn't mind. However, after Claudine's constant digs, Lauren changes her mind, and does the lift, but passes out shortly after. Lauren soon catches the eye of Britannia High's school heartthrob, Danny Miller, who eventually gets up the courage to ask Lauren out after the pair kiss, which only fuels Claudine's hatred of Lauren more, as she also has a thing for Danny.
When Lola gets into the papers, and has a dramatic change of attitude, Claudine and Lauren become closer, with the pair doing each other's make up, showing text, and sharing magazines. This, however, is short lived. When Claudine successfully breaks up Danny's and Lauren's three-month relationship by taking the card and rose Danny had left on Lauren's bed, causing her to think he forgot, Danny starts going out with Claudine. Lauren does her best to try to move on by trying to be friends with Claudine, and when she finds out she may have multiple sclerosis, Danny starts battling with his feelings for both Lauren & Claudine.
When her test results come back negative, Danny asks her back out shortly afterwards, but, with her new-found zest for life and she declines. Leaving Danny upset and rejected, he then goes back to Claudine and asks her out, using exactly the same lines as he used on Lauren. Claudine knows, however, that Danny had chosen Lauren over her, and also declines. The series ended with the 3 remaining as friends.
Max Branning is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Jake Wood. He made his first appearance on 27 June 2006. Wood took a four-month break from the show in 2011 and the character was absent between August and November 2011. Wood took a year long break from the show in 2015, with Max departing on 1 October. He returned on 24 December 2016. Wood took another short break from the show in 2018; Max departed on 16 February and returned on 23 April. It was announced in 2018 that Max would be taking a break from the soap in early 2019. He left on 14 February 2019 and returned on 7 May 2019. Max served as the show's main antagonist of 2017 following his release from prison and planning revenge on all his family, friends and neighbours. On 16 September 2020, it was announced that Wood would be departing from the role of Max after more than 14 years.
Abi Branning is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Lorna Fitzgerald. She was introduced by executive producer Kate Harwood on 3 July 2006 as an extension to the Branning family, along with father Max, mother Tanya Branning and older sister Lauren Branning. Her storylines involve her friendships and relationships with Ben Mitchell and Jay Brown, her toxic friendship with Babe Smith, faking a pregnancy so that Ben would not leave her for Paul Coker, being a suspect in the murder of Lucy Beale, her affair with Lauren's fiancé, Steven Beale, and becoming pregnant by him.
Lauren Turner is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Kate Kendall. Anita Roy is a fictional character from the Channel 4 soap opera, Hollyoaks, played by Saira Choudhry. Choudhry was cast in 2008 as part of the new Roy family and arrived in November and stayed in the serial for 2 years before she left Hollyoaks on 20 January 2011. Her more notable storylines include being racially bullied, which was nominated for an award at the Inside Soap Awards and which led to her self-harming storyline. In her time on the show she also discovered that she is adopted and began an on-line relationship. Anita also suffered an identity crisis.

"Who Killed Lucy Beale?" is a storyline from the BBC soap opera, EastEnders. It was announced on 21 February 2014 and began on 18 April 2014, when Lucy Beale was discovered dead on Walford Common from a deliberately inflicted head injury. The storyline reached a peak during EastEnders Live Week on 19 February 2015, the show's 30th anniversary episode, during which Lucy's younger brother is revealed to have killed her following a confrontation at home. Bobby's adoptive mother, Jane Beale, had covered for him, moving Lucy's body to Walford Common and convincing Bobby that he was not responsible for his sister's death. The storyline was revived in July 2015, where it showed how the Beales coped with covering the secret and many locals being wrongfully arrested for committing the crime. The storyline reached another peak in December 2015, when Bobby discovers the truth. The storyline was revisited again in May 2016; when Bobby brutally attacks Jane, and reveals in a busy pub that he killed Lucy and attacked Jane. However, Jane survives the attack – although facing potential paralysis – and Bobby is arrested; he is later charged for Lucy's murder. The storyline culminated in the 16 June 2016 episode when Bobby is sentenced to three years in custody for killing Lucy and causing grievous bodily harm upon Jane. Although Bobby is jailed for Lucy's murder, the story arc would potentially serve as the catalyst for 2017's central storyline – which sees fellow suspect Max Branning seeking revenge on the community, particularly Sharon's husband Phil Mitchell and Ian Beale, for allowing him to go to prison for Lucy's murder. The storyline is revisited again from June 2019 when Bobby is released from the young offenders institution.
