Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni (born on March 31, 1961), is a Nigerian politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Atakunmosa East/Atakunmosa West/Ilesa East/Ilesa West Federal Constituency in Osun State, under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from 2019 to 2023. The Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup from the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House succeeds the now late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, as the 49th Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. However there is much contention as the Osun State Government and Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup violated a court injunction that said no king is to be chosen until the court case has been settled which was made a week before his controversial and likely illegal selection. It is expected that the court proceedings will nullify this controversial election All Kings of Ijesaland are among the few paramount rulers and most prominent kings of the Yoruba Race extending to Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana and the South Americas (Lucumí). This prominence is due to the founder of the Ijesas being Owa Ajibogun who is the direct son of Oduduwa who is the Royal Yoruba Progenitor and God-King of the Yoruba People.

The 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election took place on 16 July 2022, to elect the governor of Osun State. Incumbent All Progressives Congress Governor Gboyega Oyetola was eligible for re-election but lost by a 3.5% margin to former Senator Ademola Adeleke—the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party. Adeleke and his running mate, Kola Adewusi, were inaugurated on 27 November. However, the Election Petition Tribunal overturned the result on 27 January 2023, awarding the win to Oyetola; Adeleke immediately appealed the ruling and remains in office pending the results of further litigation.
