Sonora is the county seat of Tuolumne County, California, United States. Founded during the California Gold Rush by Mexican miners from Sonora, the city population was 5,003 during the 2020 Census, an increase from the 4,610 counted during the 2010 Census.
The William S. Hart Union High School District is a school district in the Santa Clarita Valley of Los Angeles County, California. It serves all of the valley's high school students and most of its junior high school students. As of 2022–23, the total number of enrolled students was 22,469. The district's superintendent is Mike Kuhlman. The district is named after William S. Hart, one of the first western film stars, who lived in Newhall and was a local benefactor. The region served by the Hart District is also served by the Sulphur Springs, Saugus, Castaic, and Newhall elementary school districts.

Bullis Charter School (BCS) is a public charter school in Los Altos, California, USA, for grades kindergarten through eighth. As the Santa Clara County Office of Education charters the school, BCS operates independently of the Los Altos School District (LASD). BCS provides full-time teaching specialists in the arts and sciences, a Mandarin language program, and optional after-school activities. The school is funded in approximately equal parts from state funding and parent donations.

Credo High School is a tuition-free, college prep public charter school in Rohnert Park, California, following the core principles of public Waldorf education and serving students in ninth through twelfth grades. The school has been expanding annually since it opened in 2011, and there are 400 students for the 2018-2019 school year. Credo High School was granted charter approval in 2010 after three years of planning by a development team led by Executive Director Chip Romer and Education Director Thomas Schaefer. The school was originally located on Southwest Blvd. in Rohnert Park, California, but in 2017 relocated to SOMO Village in Rohnert Park, planned to be the model sustainable community in North America and dedicated to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and creating a more sustainable world. Today, Credo High School is the only "One Planet" school in the world and has been recognized as a Planetary Leader by Bioregional, Inc., the London-based international nonprofit that oversees One Planet Living worldwide. The school is financially supported by Awakening Entelechy, Inc., a nonprofit created expressly for the purpose of supporting the school.
