The list below shows the leading sire of broodmares in Japan for each year since 1974. This is determined by the amount of prize money won in a race held by the JRA during the year in Japan by racehorses that were foaled by a daughter of the sire in question.

Sunday Silence was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In 1989, he won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes but failed to complete the Triple Crown when he was defeated in the Belmont Stakes. Nevertheless, he won the Breeders' Cup Classic and was voted American Champion Three-Year-Old Colt and American Horse of the Year that same year. Sunday Silence's racing career was marked by his rivalry with Easy Goer, whom he had a three to one edge over in their head-to-head races. Easy Goer, the 1988 American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt finished second to Sunday Silence in the Kentucky Derby the Preakness, and the Breeders' Cup Classic. However, Easy Goer prevailed by eight lengths in the Belmont denying Sunday Silence the Triple Crown. Both horses were later voted into the American Hall of Fame.

Christophe Patrice Lemaire is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017.

Haiseiko was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse.

Deep Sky (ディープスカイ) is a Japanese racehorse which won the 2008 Tokyo Yūshun and NHK Mile Cup.

Shadai Stallion Station is a thoroughbred breeding facility located in Abira on the island of Hokkaido in Japan. The farm was begun in the late 1970s to early 1980s by the late Zenya Yoshida, and is now run jointly by his sons, known collectively as the Shadai Group. As of 2006, the brothers own 3,000 horses worldwide. The farm houses stallions from Japan and many other countries and racing circuits. The grounds also house a racing museum and tourist park called the Northern Horse Park and the Northern Farm Kuko, a large horse-training and conditioning facility. The most expensive acquisition was War Emblem, which was bought for US$17 million in 2002 to replace Sunday Silence, which died suddenly that year of a heart attack. War Emblem was a reluctant breeder, siring only 106 registered foals between 2004 and 2011. He did not sire a foal after 2012, and was pensioned and returned to the United States in the fall of 2015 to Old Friends Equine. Other recent acquisitions include 2010 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Harbinger and 2010 Epsom Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Workforce.

Mejiro McQueen was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was a late-maturing horse who did not emerge as a top-class performer until the autumn of his three-year-old season when he won the Kikuka Sho. Over the next three years he proved himself one of the best stayers in Japan with wins in the Tenno Sho (twice), Takarazuka Kinen, Osaka Hai, Kyōto Daishōten (twice) and Hanshin Daishoten (twice). He won the JRA Award for Best Older Male Horse in 1991 and was inducted into the Japan Racing Association Hall of Fame shortly after his retirement from racing.

Duramente was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. In 2015 he completed the first two legs of the Japanese Triple Crown by winning the Satsuki Shō and the Tokyo Yūshun before his season was ended by injuries. He returned in 2016 to win the Nakayama Kinen and finish second in the Dubai Sheema Classic before his racing career was ended by a leg injury sustained when slipping after the finish of the Takarazuka Kinen. He made an excellent to his career as a breeding stallion before dying at the age of nine.

Northern Farm (ノーザンファーム) is a major Japanese horse breeding farm located in Abira, Hokkaido. The farm is part of the Shadai Group, and has continuously been the leading breeder of thoroughbred horses for 12 consecutive years from 2010 to 2021.

Grenadier Guards is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the best two-year-olds in Japan in 2020 when he won two of his four races including the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes.

Efforia is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning two minor races as a two-year-old in 2020 he won the Kyodo Tsushin Hai on his first run of 2021 and maintained his unbeaten record by taking the Satsuki Sho on his next start. He was narrowly beaten in the Tokyo Yushun but returned in autumn to win the Tenno Sho and the Arima Kinen.

Shahryar, is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He won his only start as a juvenile in 2020 and made rapid improvement in the following spring as he ran third in the Tokinominoru Kinen before taking the Mainichi Hai and Tokyo Yushun.

The Tokyo Equestrian Park is an equestrian sport venue located in Setagaya, Tokyo. The venue is owned by the Japan Racing Association and is a public park all year round, known familiarly as 'Horse Park'.

Akaitorino Musume, is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. A daughter of two Japanese Triple Crown winners she showed promise as a two-year-old in 2020 when she won two of her three starts. In the following year she won the Daily Hai Queen Cup and ran well in both the Oka Sho and the Yushun Himba before winning the Shuka Sho.

Equinox is a retired Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and current sire. He won both of his races as a two-year-old in 2021, taking the Grade II Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes on his second start. In the early part of his second season he finished second in both the Satsuki Sho and the Tokyo Yushun before emerging as a high-class horse in the autumn when he won the Tenno Sho and the Arima Kinen.

Ushba Tesoro is a Japanese thoroughbred racehorse who won the Tokyo Daishoten in 2022, before going on to win the Kawasaki Kinen and the Dubai World Cup in 2023.

Dream Journey is a Japanese thoroughbred racehorse. The horse won the 2006 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes as well as the 2009 Takarazuka and Arima Kinen. Dream Journey's full brother is Orfevre, the winner of 6 GI races including the Japanese Triple Crown.
