Led Bib is a modern jazz group from London, England. [1] Its fourth album, Sensible Shoes , was shortlisted for the 2009 Mercury Prize. [2] [3]

History

Mark Holub, the band's drummer and leader, [4] formed the group in 2003 while studying at Middlesex University. [5] Their debut album, Arboretum, won the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award in 2005. [6] Their second album, Sizewell Tea, followed in 2007. A limited-edition live album was released in 2008. [7] The band's fourth album, Sensible Shoes, was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Prize. [8] Its fifth album, Bring Your Own, was released on 7 February 2011. [9] In 2014, the band released the album The People in Your Neighbourhood and a live vinyl LP The Good Egg. [10] [11] In 2016, Led Bib signed with UK-based label RareNoiseRecords. Its new album Umbrella Weather was released January 20, 2017. [12]

Roller Trio are a British jazz-rock trio, who formed whilst studying at Leeds College of Music in 2011. In 2012, their eponymous debut studio album was nominated for the Mercury Prize alongside a nomination for the band as "Best Jazz Act" at the MOBO Awards that year. In performance, John Fordham of The Guardian described their preview gig for the Mercury prize [as having] "the same wild insouciance that has made their sound a howl of fresh air." DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson described their music as "Dark, menacing, bass heavy – the new sound of UK jazzzzzzz!" They are known for their "epic memorably singalong melody hooks and blistering riffs".

He is most well known as the bandleader for Led Bib, award-winning and Mercury Prize nominated jazz/rock quintet. He also plays regularly with other bands including Blueblut, a trio with Pamelia Kurstin - theremin and Chris Janka - guitar,who were recently on the Preis der Deutschen Schallplatten Kritik Bestenliste 'The Quartet' with Wang Chung front man Jack Hues, and he plays free improv with various collections of players including a long standing duo with sax player Colin Webster., a trio with Viola Falb and Bernd Satzinger and a duo with violinist Irene Kepl

That year Freestone was also nominated in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2017 in the Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year category.

Sam Leak is an English, London-based jazz pianist, best known for his albums Places, on Jellymould Jazz, and Aquarium, on the Babel Label. His band 'Aquarium,' with saxophonist James Allsopp, double bassist Calum Gourlay, and drummer Joshua Blackmore, have been described by BBC Music Magazine as playing "assured and sophisticated acoustic jazz with deep roots in the tradition, that knows exactly what it's trying to do, and succeeds." Mojo describe them as: "Multi-faceted and smart as a pin, this is poetic chamber jazz of a very high order."

Forest Floor was also nominated for the 2022 Mercury Prize, and won the Scottish Jazz Award for Best Album.
