Lee Noble

Lee Antony Noble (born January 1958) [1] is a British entrepreneur, car designer and engineer. He is the founder of the sports car companies Noble Automotive Ltd in 1999 and Fenix Automotive in 2009. [2] He is also the designer of some low-volume sports cars, including the Ultima Mk1, Ultima Mk2, Ultima Mk3, Midtec Spyder and Ascari FGT.

Noble's designs have also been further developed beyond his own involvement, resulting in designs such as the Ultima GTR, Ascari Ecosse, [3] Noble M400, [4] Noble M600, [5] Rossion Q1 and designs such as the Salica GT, [6] which was never made. His style for sports cars is to start with a lightweight space frame, have a big powerful engine and an aerodynamic sports-racer body. Almost all the cars Noble has designed have been mid-engined.

In 2012 Noble was involved in the design of the Arrinera Hussarya supercar that will be produced in Poland. [7]

Automotive companies

Noble started Noble Automotive after he finished his involvement with Ascari, a manufacturer of supercars with a high price and small market. He wanted to produce cheaper cars, and Noble Automotive set out to build a relatively affordable, fast car, with the aim of selling hundreds or thousands of cars per year. Noble does much of its basic manufacturing in South Africa. The core body/chassis assemblies are shipped from South Africa to England, where Noble installs the drivetrain, for the European market, and performs final tests.

Noble left Noble Automotive in the spring of 2008 and created a new company Fenix Automotive in late 2009, which was subsequently dissolved in late 2012.

Noble Automotive Ltd, more commonly known simply as Noble, is a British sports car manufacturer based in Leicester. Noble Automotive Ltd. was established in 1999 by Lee Noble in Leeds, West Yorkshire, for producing high-speed sports cars with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Lee Noble was the chief designer and part owner of Noble. The company was sold in August 2006. He left the company in February 2008 and shortly after announced his new venture, Fenix Automotive in 2009.

The Rossion Q1 is an American mid-engined sports car from American car maker Rossion Automotive. Development on the Rossion Q1 began after the rights to the Noble M400 chassis were acquired in February 2007. The goal was to design a completely new car fusing the sporty strengths of the M400 with luxurious appointments. In June 2013, RP High Performance acquired Mosler Automotive and moved the entire manufacturing facility from South Africa to the current location in the United States. Production of the Rossion Q1R, the track version of the existing Q1 model, began in July 2013. A redesign of the Mosler is underway, with the car to be released in the future with no definitive date yet planned. Current Q1 and Q1R models feature a fully carbon-kevlar body.

The Noble M10 is the first car designed and produced by Noble Automotive. It was a two-door, two-seater model built in convertible form only. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre 168 hp engine. It was introduced in 1999, but is no longer in production, having been replaced by the M12. Only 6 cars were ever made as customers moved deposits onto the M12 as soon as its credentials were announced. The M10 is similar in performance to the Lotus Elise in many respects. The Toyota MR2 Spyder is noted for having a somewhat similar appearance to the M10. The first two cars were built at Lee Noble's home garage.

Fenix Automotive Ltd was a British sports car manufacturer founded by Lee Noble in 2009. Lee Noble created the company ten years after the founding of his previous company Noble Automotive. Noble left Noble Automotive in the spring of 2008. Fenix was dissolved on 20 November 2012, after producing only one model.

Hi-Tech Automotive is a low volume car builder and design house located in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Most of the vehicles produced are exported, notably to the US and UK. The main distributor of the cars built by Hi-Tech is Superformance. In December 2005, Hi-Tech Automotive transferred the ownership of its subsidiary, Superformance, to the Hillbank Automotive Group, which is privately owned by Lance Stander.

Neri and Bonacini, also known as Nembo, was a small carrozzeria and mechanic shop based in Modena, Italy, active from the late 1950s to around 1967. Founded and run by Giorgio Neri and Luciano Bonacini, the shop worked on and produced bodies for Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati road and race cars, both in an official capacity for those manufacturers and for private owners. Their best known projects are the Ferrari 250 GT-based Nembo spiders and the Lamborghini 400GT Monza. Neri and Bonacini also designed a car under their own name, the Neri and Bonacini Studio GT Due Litri. Two prototypes of this car were made between 1966 and 1968 but it never entered series production. The shop closed around 1967 when Bonacini went to work for De Tomaso and Neri started his own shop, Motors-World-Machines (MWM).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Velo Rossa</span>

The Velo Rossa is a fibre reinforced plastic composite automobile body built by Reaction Research in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. It is designed to re-style the body of the 1970-1978 Datsun/Nissan S30 Z series cars. Front end appearance panels are replaced. Doors and rear external components are over-skinned after trimming out the wheel wells for wider tires.
