Lemuel Barnett Shirley (1916–1999) was the fourth bishop of Panama. At the time Shirley was bishop, Panama was a diocese in Province 9 of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. Panama is now part of the Anglican Church in Central America. [1]

Lemuel Haynes was an American clergyman. A veteran of the American Revolution, Haynes was the first black man in the United States to be ordained as a minister.

The Lemuel Haynes House is a historic house on County Road 27 in the village of South Granville, New York. Built in 1793, it was the home of Lemuel Haynes (1753-1833), the first African-American clergyman ordained in North America, from 1822 to 1833. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975. The house is a private residence, and is not normally open to the public.
