Lennox Hastie

Lennox Hastie is a chef in Sydney, Australia who owns the restaurant Firedoor and was featured on Netflix Chef's Table: BBQ which aired on September 2, 2020. [1] Hastie is known for his unusual cooking techniques that use only fire without the use of electricity or gas. [2]

Lennox is originally from England and was born to a Scottish mother and an Australian father. His maternal grandmother first introduced him to cooking and he started in a professional kitchen at the age of 15 at Gravetye Manor in Sussex, England. He studied at Westminster Catering College in London and then worked and studied at Le Gavroche. He then worked for four years at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saison before moving to the Maison des Bois in France. [3] He moved from there to a pintxo bar in Spain [4] and then to work with chef Victor (Bittor) Arguinzoniz at Asador Extebarri. He learned about fire-based cooking from Arguinzoniz. [5]

He moved to Australia in 2011 to go out on his own and opened Firedoor in partnership with the Fink Group [6] in 2015. [7] [8] It is the only restaurant in Australia where everything is fueled with only fire, [9] without power or gas. [3] [1]

In 2017, he wrote the book Finding Fire: Cooking at its Most Elemental.

Awards

Hastie won the 2020 Citi Chef of the Year Award [3] and received the 17th place on the Australian Gourmet Traveller Top 100 restaurants list. [5] In 2019 he was named the best chef in delicious.100: Australia's most delicious restaurant guide. [10]

In 2018, Chang created, produced, and starred in a Netflix original series called Ugly Delicious., and through his Majordomo Media group he has produced and/or starred in more television and podcasts. On November 29, 2020, he became the first celebrity to win the $1,000,000 top prize for his charity, Southern Smoke Foundation, and the fourteenth overall million dollar winner on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Michael Symon

Michael D. Symon is an American chef, restaurateur, television personality, and author. He is of Greek, Sicilian, and Eastern European descent. He is seen regularly on Food Network on shows such as Iron Chef America, Burgers, Brew and 'Que, Food Feuds, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate, as well as Cook Like an Iron Chef on the Cooking Channel and The Chew on ABC. Shannon Bennett is an Australian chef and author. He is best known as the head chef of restaurant Vue de monde at Melbourne's Rialto Tower. Bennett currently serves as the creative director at the restaurant and its parent company Vue Groups, having previously been the executive chef. Norma Frances "Tootsie" Tomanetz is an American barbecue cook who is the pitmaster at Snow's BBQ in Lexington, Texas. In 2008, she rose to fame when Texas Monthly named Snow's as the best barbecue place in Texas and she is often referred to as the "Queen of Texas BBQ." She is featured in the first episode of the seventh season of Chef's Table, titled Chef's Table: BBQ, which aired on September 2, 2020. Tomanetz lives in Giddings, Texas, and works during the week at Giddings High School as a janitor as Snow's BBQ is open only on Saturday.
