Leonid Mykhaylovych Chernovetskyi is a former Mayor of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, from 2006 until the summer of 2012. He was a successful businessman, founder and controlling stakeholder of the Pravex Group and Pravex Bank, one of the largest banks in Ukraine. Since the appointment by President Viktor Yanukovych of Oleksandr Popov as Head of Kyiv City State Administration on 16 November 2010, replacing Chernovetskyi, Chernovetskyi was deprived of any real decision-making role in Kyiv. He tendered his resignation on 1 June 2012.
Alexander Konstantinovich Bogomazov or Oleksandr Kostiantynovych Bohomazov was a Ukrainian painter, cubo-futurist, modern art theoretician and is recognised as one of the key figures of the Ukrainian avant-garde scene. In 1914, Oleksandr wrote his treatise The Art of Painting and the Elements. In it he analyzed the interaction between Object, Artist, Picture, and Spectator and sets the theoretical foundation of modern art. During his artistic life Oleksandr Bohomazov mastered several art styles. The most known are Cubo-Futurism (1913–1917) and Spectralism (1920–1930).

Galyna Aleksandrovna Moskvitina (Gala) (born 1963) is a Ukrainian painter and founder of the "laternative realism" style. Laternative realism is a creative style based on peculiar perception of light and usage of conceptual images closely associated with notions of light, luminance and luminescence. Moskvitina terms her paintings “svetangs”. According to her, they are a part of adventures of her soul, an expression of her spiritual experiences reflected in pictorial form and dictated by the movement of her soul as well as an expression of the space of light in the objective world.

Serhiy Vitaliiovych Kurchenko is a former Ukrainian, Russian businessman and founder/owner of the group of companies "Gas Ukraine 2009" specializing in trading of liquefied natural gas. Kurchenko is also the former owner and president of FC Metalist Kharkiv and the Ukrainian Media Holding group. Kurchenko left Ukraine in February 2014 for Russia. Since March 2014 Kurchenko has been on the international wanted list, and his property and other assets have been arrested. Until the end of 2012 information about Kurchenko was scarce and it surfaced with a scandal around the sale of FC Metalist Kharkiv. In October 2017, a Ukrainian court confiscated Metalist Kharkiv from Kurchenko and placed it under state property.

The Kharkiv School of Photography (KSOP) is a Ukrainian artistic photography movement. It was created in opposition to the Soviet socialist realism art style, which reigned from 1934 until the 1980s. KSOP started to form in the 1960s when artistic photography revived in Kharkiv during the period of the Khrushchev Thaw. KSOP's official formation as a non-conformist underground movement was denoted by the establishment of a group by Kharkiv photographers named the Vremia Group 1971; its foundation is considered the sign of the revival of modernist art in Kharkiv.
