Lesja is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Gudbrandsdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lesja. Other villages in the municipality include Bjorli, Lesjaskog, Lesjaverk, and Lora.
Paul Kenneth Bernardo is a Canadian serial rapist and serial killer dubbed the Scarborough Rapist, the Schoolgirl Killer and, together with his former wife Karla Homolka, one of the Ken and Barbie Killers. He is known for initially committing a series of rapes in Scarborough, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, between 1987 and 1990, before committing three murders with Homolka; among these victims was Karla's younger sister, Tammy Homolka.

Junko Furuta was a Japanese high school student who was abducted, raped, tortured and subsequently murdered. Her case was called the "concrete-encased high school girl murder case" (女子高生コンクリート詰め殺人事件), since her body was discovered in a concrete drum. The abuse was mainly perpetrated by four male teenagers: Hiroshi Miyano, Jō Ogura, Shinji Minato, and Yasushi Watanabe, over a period of 40 days from 25 November 1988 to 4 January 1989. The crime has been described as the worst case of juvenile delinquency in post-war Japan. The perpetrators' sentences ranged from juvenile detention to 20 years in prison.

Susannah Jane Lamplugh was a British estate agent reported missing on 28 July 1986 in Fulham, London, England, United Kingdom. She was officially declared dead, presumed murdered, in 1993. The last clue to Lamplugh's whereabouts was an appointment to show a house in Shorrolds Road to someone she called Mr Kipper. The case remains unsolved.
The Lil' Miss murder is the name given to the murder case of Lisa Marie Kimmell, a young woman who disappeared while traveling from Denver, Colorado, to her family's home in Billings, Montana. Her case was given its name due to her vehicle, a Honda CR-X, which had the distinctive personalized license plate reading "LIL MISS", a fact widely publicized in efforts to recover her.
Romona Moore was a 21-year-old Hunter College honors student who disappeared April 24, 2003, in Brooklyn, New York. Two months later, her body was discovered outside an abandoned house which an anonymous caller had directed her mother to. Two male suspects were arrested; they were convicted in 2006 of having kidnapped, raped, tortured, and murdered Moore. The young immigrant from Guyana had been living at home with her parents and relatives before she was kidnapped.
Erik Andersen, also referred to in the media as The Pocket Man, is a convicted Norwegian child molester from Bergen. He was arrested in 2008, accused of molesting hundreds of children since 1976, and in 2010, he was convicted and sentenced to preventive detention with a minimum term of 9 years, with the possibility of extension for as long as he is deemed a danger to society. He was released in November 2014.
The Baneheia murders was a double rape and murder that occurred in Norway on 19 May 2000. The victims were two girls, 10-year-old Lena Sløgedal Paulsen and 8-year-old Stine Sofie Austegard Sørstrønen. They were found raped and killed in the Baneheia area in Kristiansand. The murders received massive media attention in Norway in the early 2000s.
Cold Prey 2: Resurrection is a 2008 Norwegian slasher film directed by Mats Stenberg. It is the sequel to the 2006 film Cold Prey, and was written by Roar Uthaug and again stars Ingrid Bolsø Berdal in the leading role. The film picks up where the first left off, where the female protagonist is picked up in the wilderness and brought to a hospital, but soon her nightmare starts all over again. Reviewers, though not overwhelmed, declared it a good sequel to the original. Premiering in Norway on 10 October 2008, its opening weekend was the best for any Norwegian movie in history.
Peter Britton Tobin was a Scottish convicted serial killer and sex offender who served a whole life order at HM Prison Edinburgh for three murders committed between 1991 and 2006. Police also investigated Tobin over the deaths and disappearances of other young women and girls.
John David Guise Cannan is a British murderer, serial rapist, serial abductor and suspected serial killer. A former car salesman, Cannan has claimed to have had 100 one-night stands and was said to be charming. He was convicted in July 1988 of murder and multiple sexual offences, abductions and attempted abductions. He was given three life sentences for the murder of Shirley Banks in Bristol in October 1987; the attempted kidnapping of Julia Holman on the previous night; the rape of a woman in Reading, Berkshire, in 1986; the rape of his girlfriend in December 1980; and several other abductions, attempted abductions and sexual offences. He became eligible for parole in September 2023, but this was refused in October 2023.

In May 2020, she began appearing in a prime time ABC television series called The Genetic Detective in which each episode recounts a cold case she helped solve.
Polatbay Turganbekovich Berdaliyev is an Uzbekistani rapist and serial killer who, along with accomplices Abduseit Ormanov and two other unidentified men, was responsible for killing 11 women in both Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan from 2011 to 2012. Berdaliyev and Ormanov were both sentenced to life imprisonment in both countries, while the other members of their group are still sought after.
The Denver Prostitute Killer was an unidentified American serial killer responsible for the murder of at least 17 women and girls in Denver and its various suburbs between 1975 and 1995, however in 2005, based upon results from DNA Profiling, it was determined that the most likely killer was Billy Edwin Reid who was previously arrested and charged with the 1989 murder of Lannell Williams and Lisa Kelly. Reid was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for those specific murders, The killings were grouped together only in 2008 – until then, each of these crimes were considered to have been committed by different people.
Edgar Antonsen was a Norwegian serial killer and rapist who was responsible for at least three murders and rapes committed in Vestfold og Telemark and Møre og Romsdal from 1962 to 1974, some with the aid of his half-brother. Convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1975, he was prematurely released in 1988 and committed suicide five years later to avoid an impending arrest for sexually abusing a young girl.
Warren Leslie Forrest is an American convicted double murderer and suspected serial killer. Sentenced to two life terms for the murders of a young woman, Krysta Blake and teenage girl Martha Morrison in Clark County, Washington, in 1974, he is considered the prime suspect in at least five similar murders and disappearances dating back to 1971. Forrest has been incarcerated on a single murder count since 1974, and was convicted on another count on February 4, 2023 after DNA linked him to the murder of Martha Morrison. The jury took just an hour and a half to convict Forrest of 17-year-old Martha's murder.
