Lesley Vickerage (born Woolwich[ citation needed ]) is an English actress best known for her roles as WPC Jenny Dean in the television series Between the Lines , as Lieutenant (later Captain) Kate Butler in Soldier Soldier , as Helen Lynley in the television series The Inspector Lynley Mysteries , and as Aunt Jane in the television series Moonfleet .

Early years

Vickerage's desire to be an actress began when she was a girl. She said, "My parents were both frustrated actors, and I used to go to Saturday morning drama classes." [1] Before she became an actress, she was a secretary for the head of BBC drama. She also sang in the Middle East, then attended drama school. [1]

Career

Vickerage had a walk on part in 1991 in King Ralph as a woman in the shop near the end of the film. She played Ellie in My Good Friend , Helen Lynley in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries , Viv Casey in Grafters , the space pilot Vornholt in the BBC series Bugs and she has also been in The Bill , Silent Witness , Sea of Souls , Inspector Morse , Holby City , Law & Order: UK , Midsomer Murders , Doctors , Lewis , My Family ‘’The Murder Room’’ and Between The Lines . Most recently, she played Liz in Friday Night Dinner and Katherine Dutta in the Inspector Lewis episode, "Down Amongst the Fearful".

She was scheduled to appear in the Salisbury Playhouse production of Ira Levin's play Deathtrap in February 2016. [2]

The Inspector Lynley Mysteries is a British crime drama television series that aired on BBC One from 12 March 2001 to 1 June 2008, consisting of six series and 24 episodes. The protagonist, Detective Inspector Thomas "Tommy" Lynley, 8th Earl of Asherton, who is assigned to Scotland Yard, finds himself paired with Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers. In addition to the tensions involved in solving murder cases, the series is built on clashes of personality, gender and class: Lynley is a polished man and a peer of the realm, and Havers is an untidy woman from a working-class background.
