Lester L. Erb (born April 22, 1969) is an American football coach and former player. He formerly was the running back coach and wide receivers coach at Rutgers University. [1]

Coaching career

Baltimore Ravens

Lester Erb was an offensive quality control coach for the Baltimore Ravens for two seasons.

Iowa Hawkeyes

After a year coaching tight ends at Army, Erb joined the former Ravens offensive line and assistant head coach Kirk Ferentz one year after Ferentz became the Iowa head coach, and coached running backs and wide receivers there. [2] Erb was named one of the top recruiters in the nation while coaching at Iowa. [3] [4]

Nevada

Erb spent a four years coaching special teams and running backs at Nevada.

Rutgers

On January 6, 2017, it was announced that Erb would be leaving to take over as the running back coach for Rutgers. [5] [6] In 2018 it was decided that Erb would switch from coaching running backs to wide receivers. [7] When Greg Schiano retook control of the program in 2020 it was announced that Erb would no longer be coaching for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

He also served as the head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) from 2012 to 2013.

William John Cubit is an American football coach and former player. Cubit was the head football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, first on an interim basis in the 2015 season and then promoted to the post full-time before his dismissal on March 5, 2016. Cubit served as the head football coach at Widener University from 1992 to 1996, and Western Michigan University from 2005 to 2012. Most recently, in 2019, he served as assistant head coach and running backs coach at his alma mater, the University of Delaware.

Gary Barta was the athletic director at the University of Iowa. Barta retired from the university on July 31,2023.

The 2006 Outback Bowl was an American college football bowl game played January 2, 2006, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It was the 20th edition of the Outback Bowl and featured the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference, and the Florida Gators from the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Florida came into the game under first-year head coach Urban Meyer with an 8–3 record. The Hawkeyes, led by 7th year head coach Kirk Ferentz, came into the game with a 7–4 record.

In recent years, he has faced scrutiny due to alleged nepotism within the program, tied to the underperformance of Iowa's offense's under his instruction.

Kyle J. Flood is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Texas Longhorns football team. He is also the former head football coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Flood was named the 29th head football coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team after Greg Schiano accepted the National Football League head coaching position for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is the first Rutgers football head coach to be promoted from assistant since the 1973 season. Flood is a graduate of Iona College and earned four varsity letters for the Gaels between 1989 and 1992.
