54-40 is a Canadian rock band from Tsawwassen, British Columbia. The band take their name from the slogan "54-40 or Fight!", coined to express the unsuccessful expansionist agenda of James K. Polk's presidency, which was intent upon controlling a contested U.S.-Canada border area in the Oregon boundary dispute. 54-40 has had a successful career, with four of their albums being certified Platinum in Canada. The band has been nominated for eight Juno Awards. Between 1996 and 2016, 54-40 were among the top 150 selling Canadian artists in Canada and among the top 50 selling Canadian bands in Canada.
Thomas James Hunter, CM, O.Ont is a Canadian country music performer, known as "Canada's Country Gentleman".
Morris "Moe" Koffman, OC was a Canadian jazz saxophonist and flautist, as well as composer and arranger. During a career spanning from the 1950s to the 2000s, Koffman was one of Canada's most prolific musicians, working variously in clubs and sessions and releasing 30 albums. With his 1957 record Cool and Hot Sax on the New York-based Jubilee label, Koffman became one of the first Canadian jazz musicians to record a full-length album. Koffman was also a long-time member of Rob McConnell's Boss Brass.
"Shop Around" is a song originally recorded by the Miracles on Motown Records' Tamla subsidiary label. It was written by Miracles lead singer Smokey Robinson and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. It became a smash hit in 1960 when originally recorded by the Miracles, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B chart, number one on the Cashbox Top 100 Pop Chart, and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was the Miracles' first million-selling hit record, and the first-million-selling hit for the Motown Record Corporation.
"Every Heartbeat" is a song by American Christian singer Amy Grant. It was released in June 1991 as the third single from her ninth studio album, Heart in Motion (1991), though it was the second from the album to be released to mainstream pop radio. It reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and on the Adult Contemporary chart for one and six weeks, respectively. Charlie Peacock wrote the song's music and chorus lyrics, with Grant and Wayne Kirkpatrick composing the remaining lyrics.
"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" is a song written by English musician Elton John and songwriter Bernie Taupin. It was originally recorded by John for his eighth studio album, Caribou (1974), and was released as a single that peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and reached number 16 on the UK Singles Chart.
Paul Zaza is a Canadian Genie Award-winning film score and songwriter who worked frequently with director Bob Clark and with fellow composer Carl Zittrer. He has composed scores for more than 100 films.

"Never Gonna Let You Go" is a popular song from 1982 written by the husband-and-wife songwriting team of Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann; Weil wrote the lyrics, while Mann wrote the music. It was first recorded by Dionne Warwick for her 1982 album Friends in Love, and then by singer Stevie Woods for his 1982 album The Woman in My Life. However, its best-known rendition was by Brazilian musician and bandleader Sérgio Mendes, on his 1983 self-titled album. That version was sung by Joe Pizzulo and Leeza Miller.
"Danny's Song" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins, as a gift for his brother Danny for the birth of his son, Colin. It first appeared on an album by Gator Creek and a year later on the album Sittin' In, the debut album by Loggins and Messina. The song is well remembered for both the Loggins and Messina original, as well as for Anne Murray's 1972 top-ten-charting cover.
"Running with the Night" is the second single released from American singer and songwriter Lionel Richie's multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning 1983 album, Can't Slow Down. Richie co-wrote the song with songwriter Cynthia Weil and co-produced it with James Anthony Carmichael.

"Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" is a song written by James Dunne and Pamela Phillips-Oland, and originally performed on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns by Dunne himself with series regular Tonya Pinkins. It was later recorded by Jermaine Jackson with a then-unknown Whitney Houston, and also by Canadian country music artist Anne Murray with singer-songwriter Dave Loggins. Jackson and Houston actually premiered their version on As the World Turns as well, on the August 1, 1984 episode, while the Murray-Loggins version was released as a country single shortly thereafter, in September of '84. The former appeared on Houston's 1985 self-titled debut album and on the 2009 compilation album, The Collection. The latter was the first single from Murray's album Heart Over Mind, peaking at number one on December 15, 1984. It was Murray's ninth American number-one country hit, and it also hit the top ten on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The song was Loggins' only hit on the country chart. In live performances, Murray sang the duet with Billie Hughes. The song also appears on Murray's 2007 album Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends, performed as a duet with her daughter, Dawn Langstroth.

Yvonne Murray is a Canadian singer who has had a hit in 1983 with "Don't Send Me Roses " which did well on two Canadian charts. She had another hit the following year with "Let's Not Waste Another Heartbeat". She has sung on multiple film soundtracks. She sang the title song "Never Far Apart" for the film, Melanie and has worked as an actress. She has worked with Paul Zaza on multiple projects. With Zaza she sang the theme to Kimba the White Lion . She also did the voice for Kimba.
"Don't Send Me Roses (Dear Abby)" was a hit single for Irish born Toronto-based singer Yvonne Murray. Produced by Paul Zaza the single brought Murray national recognition, registering in two charts.
The Longo Brothers were a Canadian act who had some national hits during the 1970s. Other artists have also recorded their compositions. They have collaborated with Moe Koffman, Paul Zaza and Yvonne Murray.
Jim Mancel was a Canadian singer, producer, composer and arranger who had several hits from the early 1970s and another in the early 1980s. He has recorded for the Polydor, Apex, and Quality labels, and Quality's subsidiary, Celebration. His hits include, "I Could Give You the World" which was a hit on the MAPL chart in 1970, and his 1975 single "Let the Phone Ring" which was also commercially successful in Canada. He hit the adult contemporary chart in 1977 with "Just Be Yourself". He was also a member of the Canadian band, Chester who had a hit in 1973 with "Make My Life a Little Bit Brighter".
