The Lewisville Campus is a community venue and surplus school facility in Battle Ground, Washington, owned by Battle Ground Public Schools. [1] The location is home to the district's Community Education, Family-Community Resource Center, and print shop programs. [2] Battle Ground school board meetings are also held in the Lewisville C Building. [3] [4] CAM Academy has operated at the site since 2021. [5] Prior to 2009, the campus exclusively served grades six–eighth at the now-defunct Lewisville Middle School. [6]
Lewisville Middle School was constructed in 1965 to accommodate sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in Battle Ground. [7] The school neighbored Chief Umtuch Primary, Captain Strong Elementary, and Battle Ground High School. [8]
In 2005, a construction bond was passed by Battle Ground voters to alleviate overcrowding around the district. [9] This measure led to the closure and bulldozing of Chief Umtuch Primary School and the erection of Chief Umtuch Middle School in its place, allowing the closure of the aging Lewisville Middle School in 2009. [10]
The campus became a surplus facility, used by the district primarily for non-school operations. [11] Following the expiration of a facility lease, the district's CAM Academy was relocated to the Lewisville Campus in 2021. [12] [13] Three new modular buildings on the campus finished construction in 2023 to serve as a permanent home for the program. [14]
