Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a public research university in Singapore. Founded in 1981, it is also the second oldest autonomous university in the country.
Nanyang University (南洋大學) was a private university in Singapore between 1956 and 1980. During its existence, it was Singapore's only private university in the Chinese language. In 1980, Nanyang University was merged with the University of Singapore to form the National University of Singapore (NUS). It was not until 2005 that another private school in Singapore, SIM University, was established.

Philip J. Ivanhoe is an American sinologist and historian of Chinese thought, particularly of Confucianism and Neo-Confucianism. He is a professor and chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Georgetown University. Ivanhoe is perhaps best known for two claims: that Neo-Confucian philosophers such as Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming have systematically misinterpreted earlier Confucians such as Confucius himself, and Mengzi; and that Confucianism may usefully be understood as a version of virtue ethics.
Jiyuan Yu was a Chinese moral philosopher noted for his work on virtue ethics. Yu was a long-time and highly admired Professor of Philosophy at the State University of New York at Buffalo, in Buffalo, New York, starting in 1997. Prior to his professorship, Yu completed a three-year post as a research fellow at the University of Oxford, England (1994-1997). He received his education in China at both Shandong University and Renmin University, in Italy at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, and in Canada at the University of Guelph. His primary areas of research and teaching included Ancient Greek Philosophy, and Ancient Chinese Philosophy.
The Nanyang Technological University Libraries consist of eight libraries located within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus in Jurong, Singapore. All of the libraries are open to all staff and students of NTU, regardless of which faculty they belong to. Members of the public can also use library facilities and view print resources, but only members of NTU may check out materials or access electronic resources.

Roger T. Ames is a Canadian-born philosopher, translator, and author. He is Humanities Chair Professor at Peking University in Beijing, China, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and a Berggruen Fellow. He has made significant contributions to the study of Chinese and comparative philosophy, in which he emphasizes the importance of understanding Chinese philosophy on its own terms rather than through the lens of Western philosophy.

Xiaodong Chen is a Singaporean academic who serves as the President's Chair Professor in Materials Science and Engineering, Professor of Chemistry and Medicine at Nanyang Technological University. He is the member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, fellow of Singapore National Academy of Science, fellow of Academy of Engineering Singapore. His other current roles include the director of the Innovative Centre for Flexible Devices (iFLEX) at NTU, the director of Max Planck – NTU Joint Lab for Artificial Senses and the deputy director of the Singapore Hybrid-Integrated Next-Generation μ-Electronics (SHINE) Center at NTU. He is also the Editor-in-chief of ACS Nano. He was the Scientific Director at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) between 2021 and 2023. So far, Chen has co-authored nearly 400 research publications and holds over 50 patents in Singapore and overseas.
Uganda Sze Pui Kwan is director of the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation (MTI) Programme and an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
