The Black Dahlia Murder is an American melodic death metal band from Waterford, Michigan, formed in 2001. Their name is derived from the 1947 unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, often referred to as Black Dahlia. Since 2016, the band had consisted of lead vocalist Trevor Strnad, rhythm guitarist Brian Eschbach, bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and lead guitarist Brandon Ellis. The Black Dahlia Murder has undergone various lineup changes, with Strnad and Eschbach remaining the only constant members, until the former's death in 2022. Out of the eight studio albums they have released to date, the last seven have charted on the U.S. Billboard 200, with their fifth album Ritual peaking at No. 31 in 2011, marking them as one of the most popular contemporary American extreme metal bands. Their ninth and latest album Verminous was released on April 17, 2020.
Candiria are an American progressive metal band from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 1992, the band was part of the second wave of New York hardcore, but subsequently expanded its performance to also play jazz, hip hop and progressive rock.
Byzantine is an American heavy metal band from Charleston, West Virginia, that was formed in 2000. Beyond The Embrace was an American melodic death metal band. They formed in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2000. The band has released two albums to date, Against the Elements in 2002 and Insect Song in 2004. They were signed to Metal Blade Records. Along with vocalist and keyboardist Shawn Gallagher, bassist Chris Parlon, and drummer Chris Haskell, the band features the work of three guitarists: Alex Botelho, Oscar Gouveia, and Jeff Saude. Shawn Gallagher uses a mix of clean and harsh vocal styles. It is unknown whether the band is currently disbanded.
Once Sent from the Golden Hall is the debut full-length studio album released by the melodic death metal band Amon Amarth, released by Metal Blade Records on 10 February 1998. The album was originally limited and only 1000 copies were sold on CD and LP versions. Later the album was re-released by Metal Blade in 2005 on Picture LP with 500 hand-counted copies. A deluxe edition was released in 2009 that featured the album remastered by Jens Bogren, and a bonus CD of the original album played live in its entirety in Bochum, Germany. Martin Lopez left the band soon after the release of this album to join Swedish band Opeth, making this the only album with him on drums. Likewise, it is also the only album to feature guitarist Anders Hansson.
