Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.
The women's individual recurve was one of the events held in archery at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. There were two classes: a class for W1 & W2 wheelchair competitors and a class for standing archers. In the ranking round each archer shot 72 arrows; in the knockout stages each match was 12 arrows each.
Norbert Murphy is a Canadian archer. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the Men's individual compound W1. He is currently 3rd in the world in the Men's Compound W1.
Francisco Ángel Soriano San Martín is a SH1 shooter from Spain. In 2012, he was retired and a pensioner. Soriano competed at the 1988 Summer Paralympics, 1992 Summer Paralympics, 1996 Summer Paralympics, 2000 Summer Paralympics, 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. In 1996, he won a gold medal in the Free Pistol .50 P4, Mixed SH1 competition. In 2000, he won a bronze in the Free Pistol .50 P4, Mixed SH1 competition.
Ricardo de Pedraza Losa is a vision impaired B1/T11 Spanish Paralympic track and field competitor. He represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, finishing eleventh in the 5,000 meter event. He has held several Spanish national records in long-distance events.
María Carmen Rubio Larrion is an archer from Spain. She has represented Spain in archery at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, and at the World Championships, where she finished sixth in the women's individual compound event in 2013. She has also represented Spain at European Championships.
Guillermo Javier Rodríguez González is an adaptive archer from Spain. He won a gold medal at the Spanish Archery Championship for Physically Handicapped in 2010. Gonzalez represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and the 2013 IPC World Championships. He shoots both the recurve and compound bows. He finished just out of the medals at the London Paralympics.
José Manuel Marín Rodríguez is an archer from Spain. He represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. He has also competed in several world championships.
Francesc Tur Blanch is a wheelchair tennis player from Spain. He has competed in the men's single and doubles events representing Spain at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics. His top international singles world ranking was 19th, a rank he held in August 2010.
Archery at the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held between 10 and 17 September 2016 at the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí in the Maracana zone of Rio de Janeiro, and consisted of nine events. Although featuring the same number of events as in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, their make-up changed substantially, with three men's events, three women's events and three events for mixed gender teams. In each category, two events involved the compound bow - one for wheelchair athletes, the other open - with an open event for recurve bow, the bow used for all Olympic events.
