Limison D. Sangma (born 1967) [1] is an Indian politician from Meghalaya. He is a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Raksamgre Assembly constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribe community, in West Garo Hills district. He won the 2023 Meghalaya Legislative Assembly election representing the National People's Party (India). [2] [3]
Sangma is from Boldampitbari village, Photamati post, West Garo Hills district, Meghalaya. [4] He is the son of late Bijen Sangma. He completed his diploma in civil engineering in 1996 at Shillong Polytechnic, Shillong. Earlier, he studied at Don Bosco School, Tura, and passed Class 10 examinations conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education in 1986. [1]
Sangma won from Raksamgre Assembly constituency representing National People's Party (India) in the 2023 Meghalaya Legislative Assembly election. He polled 12,184 votes and defeated his nearest rival, Benedic R. Marak of the Bharatiya Janata Party, by a margin of 2,818 votes. [5] [6] [7]
Mukul Manda Sangma is an Indian politician and physician who was the 11th Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 2010 to 2018 and is currently leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly since July 2024.Sangma also served as Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 2009 to 2010, 2007 to 2008 and 2005 to 2005.
