Linda Ramkalawan (born 19 October 1963) is First Lady of Seychelles as the wife of Seychellois politician Wavel Ramkalawan,the 5th President of Seychelles.
Ramkalawan was born in Saint Louis district on Mahé island and raised in Bel Ombre. [1] [2]
Ramkalawan worked in the Seychellois tourism industry,working at Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove hotel for over forty years before her retirement in 2019. [3]
Ramkalawan has been married to Wavel Ramkalawan for over forty years and together they have three sons:Samuel Ramkalawan,Caleb Ramkalawan and Amos Ramkalawan. [2] [4] They were married on 4 May 1985. [5] When he was elected 5th President of Seychelles in 2020 she became First Lady. [6] Ramkalawan said that she "will seek to favour children and education" in the role. [4]
As First Lady of Seychelles,Ramkalawan launched The Hope Foundation and became its patron in November 2020. [7] She is also patron of the White Feather Fund,which supports orphans, [8] and has hosted receptions for retired Seychellois teachers. [9]
In 2021,she met with the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Seychelles. [10] In 2025,she addressed Judiciary staff at the Palais de Justice to celebrate International Women's Day. [11]
In 2023,Ramkalawan accompanied her husband on a state visit to the Maldives [12] [13] and met with members of the Seychellois diaspora living in the United Kingdom. [14] In 2024,Ramkalawan accompanied her husband on a visit to the Vatican and Italy. In 2025,Ramkalawan accompanied her husband when they visited Cuba [15] and Ghana. [16] [17]
