The county seat is Mayo. Lafayette County is a prohibition or partially dry county, allowing retail sales of beer.

Kiger Island is a 2,200-acre (8.9 km2) island in Oregon formed by a fork between the Willamette River and the Booneville Channel. The island is located at 44°30′45″N123°14′03″W. Kiger Island is south of Corvallis in southeastern Benton County, with the Linn County line following the contour of the eastern (river) side of the island. The only road to the island, SE Kiger Island Drive, is located off of Highway 99W, just 2.5 miles south of downtown Corvallis.

The Washington County Courthouse in Hillsboro, Oregon is the courthouse for Washington County, Oregon, in the United States. Washington County was established in 1843 and the first government building was finished in 1852. The current courthouse was built in 1928 with an addition and renovations to the structure in 1972. Currently the building houses courtrooms, the county sheriff's dispatch, staff offices, and the office of the district attorney. The county jail was previously attached to the courthouse.

Located on Winter Street, just south of the Oregon State Capitol, the facility features classrooms, the law library, administrative offices, and faculty offices. The building also contains a fully functioning trial courtroom used for moot court. It houses Lady Justice, the 12-foot (3.7 m)-tall, 300-pound (140 kg) statue formerly located on the roof of the Marion County Courthouse.
