Nelson Alexander Ross is an American comic book writer and artist known primarily for his painted interiors, covers, and design work. He has since done a variety of projects for both Marvel and DC Comics, such as the 1996 miniseries Kingdom Come, which Ross co-wrote. Since then he has done covers and character designs for Busiek's series Astro City, and various projects for Dynamite Entertainment. His feature film work includes concept and narrative art for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, and DVD packaging art for the M. Night Shyamalan film Unbreakable. He has done covers for TV Guide, promotional artwork for the Academy Awards, posters and packaging design for video games, and his renditions of superheroes have been merchandised as action figures.

Pamela Rambo is a colorist who has worked in the comics industry, perhaps best known for her work on Dark Horse Comics's Star Wars series. Additionally, she has worked for DC Comics's Vertigo imprint on such titles as Preacher and Y: The Last Man. After filling in for issue 13 of Preacher, Rambo eventually took over coloring duties from Matt Hollingsworth at issue 31, maintaining a consistent style on the book during the second half of its run, with the series winning an Eisner Award in 1999 for best continuing series. Her work on Y: The Last Man has seen her regarded as an unsung hero by series creator Brian K. Vaughan and a fan favourite.

The Comic Reader (TCR) was a comics news-fanzine published from 1961 to 1984. Debuting in the pre-direct market era, TCR was the first regularly published comics industry news fanzine, and was able to secure many contacts from within the ranks of the larger publishers. As TCR increased in popularity and influence, it was able to attract professional artist to illustrate the covers. TCR also proved to be a launching pad for aspiring comic book creators, many of whom published work in the fanzine as amateurs. Contributors from the world of fandom included founding editor Jerry Bails, key editor Paul Levitz, Paul Kupperberg, Tony Isabella, Byron Preiss, Neal Pozner, Don Rosa, Carl Gafford, and Doug Hazlewood.
The Comics Buyer's Guide (CBG) magazine administered the annual Comics Buyer's Guide Fan Awards from 1982 to circa 2010, with the first awards announced in issue #500.
