Lisbeth Olsson is a Swedish microbiologist and a professor in industrial biotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. [1]

In 1987, Olsson obtained her master's degree in chemical engineering from Lund University in Lund, Sweden. In 1994, Olsson acquired a PhD degree in Applied Microbiology from Lund University in Lund, Sweden.[ citation needed ]
In 1987, Olsson became an analytical chemist for Draco, a pharmaceutical company, for a year. In 1994, Olsson began to work as a postdoctoral researcher at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2006, Olsson advanced her academic career and was appointed as a full professor at Technical University of Denmark. In 2008, Olsson was recruited to Chalmers University of Technology, where she started her own research group in industrial biotechnology. Her research focuses on design and use of microorganisms and enzymes in processes in which plant cell wall materials are converted to valuable fuels, chemicals, and materials. She also works in Wallenberg Wood Science Center, which aims to develop materials from wood. She leads the Nordic collaborative project HGBiofuels aiming to develop sustainable production of biofuels. [2] Additionally, she is a technical advisor for Taurus Energy AB. [3]
In August 2021 the Swedish Research Council appointed Lisbeth Olsson as the new secretary general for the area of Research Infrastructures. [4] The Swedish Research Council has five scientists serving as secretary general in different areas. Each one has a high level of scientific expertise, contributing both knowledge and experience to the organisation. [5] They are also are part of the Swedish Research Council’s management team.

The Faculty of Engineering is one of the eight faculties at Lund University in Lund, Sweden, commonly called LTH. Tellep Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. Between 2020-2024, she served as the director of the Molecular Foundry, a national user facility managed by the US Department of Energy at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Persson is the director and founder of the Materials Project, a multi-national effort to compute the properties of all inorganic materials. Her research group focuses on the data-driven computational design and prediction of new materials for clean energy production and storage applications. In 2024, Persson was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, in the class of Chemistry.
Susanne E. Aalto is a Swedish professor of radio astronomy geodesy at the Onsala Space Observatory in the department of Space, Earth and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology. She has been a professor of radio astronomy since 2013. Between 1994 and 1999, she completed her post doctoral studies at the Steward Observatory, University of Arizona and at Caltech in the United States.

Lisbeth Helena Larsson (1949–2021) was a Swedish literary historian and researcher who from 2000 was professor of literary studies at the University of Gothenburg where she focused on gender studies. Drawing on the archive of women's history at the Arts Faculty Library, she published a book on women from Gothenburg, Hundrade och en Göteborgskvinnor. It paved the way for a grant from the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation which in March 2018 led to the establishment of Svenskt kvinnobiografiskt lexikon, a searchable biographical dictionary of Swedish women. Larsson is also remembered as a theatre and literature critic for the newspaper Expressen.
Ebba Marianne Kärrholm née Hellsten (1921–2018) was a Swedish chemical engineer and educator. Conducting research from 1945 at the Swedish Textile Research Institute at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, she collaborated with textile companies. The year 1971 saw publication of a major study she coordinated for the Swedish Consumer Council on consumer-oriented technology, which was also published in English. After earning a Ph.D. in 1960, she became the first woman to be appointed senior lecturer at Chalmers. She became professor of the university's newly established Consumer Technology Department in 1984 until her retirement in 1989. The following year, she was awarded the Chalmers' Medal.
Shannon B. Olsson is a scientist working on chemical ecology and sustainability, particularly in the context of Indian ecosystems. Olsson is the founder and Global Director of the echo network, a science with society network crossing 45 countries. She also serves through the echo network's international hub as Special Scientific Envoy to India with the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (ATV) in close collaboration with the Innovation Centre Denmark in India. She previously served as a project leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany, and then a faculty member of the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bangalore, India.
