This is a list of Alvin and the Chipmunks television specials and home video releases.

VHS releases

Following the Lorimar Home Video successful release of The Chipmunk Adventure movie on VHS, selected episodes of the 1983 show and 1980s and 1990s specials were also released. In 1988, New Age Video distributed them, then by Buena Vista Home Video from 1991 to 1996, and Universal Studios Home Video from 1998 to 2000. The VHS Chipmunk Video Library titles featured no opening and closing credits (even though the opening credits were intact on A Chipmunk Reunion).

However, unlike the syndicated versions for most of these were presented in their original speed. The early-mid-1990s Chipmunk VHS releases featured select episodes from the DiC era. The Universal Home Video releases consisted of the reissue of The Chipmunk Adventure and the two direct-to-video films.

Some U.K. VHS releases have yet to be released in the U.S. on DVD. Episodes consists: "The Phantom", "The Wall", "Queen of the High School Ballroom", "Alvin's Not So Superhero", "Home Sweet Home", "All Worked Up" and "Phantom of the Rock Opera".

There was also a VHS tape released exclusively in Germany that featured seven different segments (albeit in German). On it were "The Wall", "The Amazing Chipmunks", "Psychic Alvin", "A Special Kind of Champion", "Cookie Chomper III", "Nightmare on Seville Street" and "Thinking Cap Trap". Of the seven, "The Amazing Chipmunks", which originally aired alongside "The Wall", is extremely hard to find in its original English language version. [2]

DVD releases

In 2005, Bagdasarian Productions struck a deal with Paramount Home Entertainment to distribute their latest direct-to-video release, Little Alvin and the Mini-Munks, on DVD. So, Paramount continued distributing selected episodes from the 1980's/1990's series and specials. However, Universal Studios Home Entertainment released Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein andAlvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman (which still owns the rights to these specials). 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment (formerly 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment still owns the home video rights through Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The DVD releases include episodes of the 1980s Alvin and the Chipmunks animated series (previously released on VHS) and unreleased on a home video format.

The title of the show was changed from Alvin and the Chipmunks to simply The Chipmunks in 1988 to reflect this. In the cartoon series and the accompanying feature films, all of the Chipettes were voiced by their creator, Janice Karman, the wife of Ross Bagdasarian Jr.. Karman also wrote and voiced the Chipettes' dialogue on their studio albums, while studio singers such as Susan Boyd, Shelby Daniel and Katherine Coon provided their singing voices. In Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, Eleanor is voiced by Vanessa Bagdasarian, the daughter of Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman and wife of Brian Chambers.

The Alvin Show is an American animated television series that aired on CBS in the early 1960s. This was the first series to feature the singing characters Alvin and the Chipmunks. The Alvin Show aired for one season, from October 4, 1961, to September 12, 1962 and was originally sponsored by General Foods through its Jell-O gelatin and Post Cereal brands. Although the series was created in color, it was initially telecast in black and white. It was later rebroadcast in color from 1962-65 for Saturday mornings on CBS and again Saturday mornings on NBC in 1979.

The Chipmunk Adventure is a 1987 American animated musical-comedy film based on the Saturday-morning cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is a 2009 American live-action/computer-animated jukebox musical comedy film directed by Betty Thomas, written by Jon Vitti, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, and produced by Janice Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr.. The second installment in its live-action film series and the sequel to Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007), the film stars Zachary Levi, David Cross and Jason Lee. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney return as the Chipmunks from the previous film. Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate voice the new characters, the Chipettes. A Chipmunk Reunion is a 1985 animated special produced by Bagdasarian Productions, in association with Ruby-Spears Enterprises, and is spun off of NBC's popular animated series, Alvin & the Chipmunks, starring the Chipmunks and the Chipettes.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is a 2015 American live-action/computer-animated jukebox musical comedy film directed by Walt Becker and written by Randi Mayem Singer and Adam Sztykiel. It is the fourth and final installment in the Alvin and the Chipmunks live-action film series and a sequel to the 2011 film Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. The film's main cast features Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Josh Green. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney all reprise their roles as the Chipmunks, while Kaley Cuoco, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate play the Chipettes. Cuoco replaced Amy Poehler as the voice of Eleanor in the film.
