The anime series Code Geass by Sunrise has been adapted into various series of light novels. First serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's The Sneaker magazine, they are divided into two separate series corresponding with the series two seasons. The first series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, spanned five volumes with the first, labelled as volume 0, released in Japan on April 28, 2007, and the last on February 29, 2008. [1] [2] All five volumes in the first series of novels have been released in English by Bandai Visual as licensed in December 2007. [3] The first volume was released in November 2008 and the last one on February 23, 2010. [2] [4]
The series focus on how the former prince Lelouch Lamperouge obtains a power known as Geass and decides to use it destroy the Holy Britannian Empire. The first novel acts as a prologue, focusing on how Lelouch befriended Suzaku Kururugi, the son of Japan's last prime minister, when the former and his sister Nunnally Lamperouge were sent to Japan as political hostages.
The second novel series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, covers the second season of the anime series in which Lelouch continues his battle against the Britannian Empire. It was released in four volumes from May 31, 2008, to February 28, 2009. [5] [6] A single volume side story novel, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Red Tracks (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ 朱の軌跡, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu Shu no Kiseki) was released on March 29, 2008, in Japan. It focuses on the life of teenage girl Kallen Stadtfeld who becomes a soldier from the organization the Black Knights under Lelouch's leadership to defeat Britannia. [7]

Asuka (あすか), formerly Monthly Asuka, is a bimonthly Japanese shōjo manga magazine published by Kadokawa Shoten. The magazine was established in 1985. It is released on the 24th of every odd-numbered month as of May 2021. Much like its sibling publication Shōnen Ace, it places some emphasis on anime tie-ins and spinoffs. Manga serialized in Asuka are published in tankōbon format under the Asuka Comics imprint.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, often referred to simply as Code Geass, is a Japanese anime television series produced by Sunrise. Lelouch vi Britannia, whose alias is Lelouch Lamperouge, is the main protagonist of the Sunrise anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. In the series, Lelouch is a former prince from the superpower Britannia who is given the power of the "Geass" by a witch known as C.C. Using the Geass and his genius-level intellect, Lelouch becomes the leader of the resistance movement known as The Black Knights under his alter ego Zero (ゼロ) to destroy the Holy Britannian Empire, an imperial monarchy that has been conquering various countries under control from his father.

Euphemia li Britannia is a fictional character who appears in Sunrise's anime television series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion In the series, Omi Minami voices the character, while Michelle Ruff plays her in the English dub. Born as the Third Princess of the Britannian Imperial Family, Euphemia is portrayed in Code Geass as the half-sister of the series' protagonist and antihero, Lelouch Lamperouge. Also, Euphemia develops throughout the anime's first season a romantic relationship with the character Suzaku Kururugi.

The coup d'état by the Black Knights, led by the protagonist, Lelouch vi Britannia, ended in failure and resulted in Lelouch's capture and brainwashing. Since then, the coup has been referred to as the Black Rebellion.

Akito Hyuga is the protagonist of the original video animation Code Geass: Akito the Exiled produced by Sunrise. Akito is a 17-year-old soldier who has lost his hometown. He is an officer in E.U. military with the rank of lieutenant from a unit consisting of teenagers from Area 11 called W-0 under the command of Leila Malcal. During the year 2017 a.t.b., Akito takes part in a military operation on the European battlefront as a Knightmare Frame pilot. Akito is cursed with a supernatural "Geass" after command by his brother Shin Hyuga Shaing that he controls at will, allowing him to savagely kill his enemies in the battlefield, thus was given the title "Hannibal's Ghost" (ハンニバルの亡霊). Akito can also see spirits of his fallen comrades as he revealed as part of his post-traumatic disorder, and across the narrative he tries to overcome his grief.
Ukyō Kodachi is a Japanese novelist, manga artist, and screenwriter. He started out writing tabletop role-playing games, before debuting as a novelist in 2008 and a screenwriter in 2013. From 2016 to 2020, he worked on the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga.
