In law enforcement, a sting operation is a deceptive operation designed to catch a person attempting to commit a crime. A typical sting will have an undercover law enforcement officer, detective, or co-operative member of the public play a role as criminal partner or potential victim and go along with a suspect's actions to gather evidence of the suspect's wrongdoing. Mass media journalists occasionally resort to sting operations to record video and broadcast to expose criminal activity.
Abscam, sometimes written ABSCAM, was an FBI sting operation in the late 1970s and early 1980s that led to the convictions of seven members of the United States Congress and others for bribery and corruption. The two-year investigation initially targeted trafficking in stolen property and corruption of prominent business people, but later evolved into a public corruption investigation. The FBI was aided by the Justice Department and convicted con-man Mel Weinberg in videotaping politicians accepting bribes from a fictitious Arabian company in return for various political favors.

Connor Undercover is a Canadian Teen action comedy TV series airing on Canadian specialty channel Family Channel. It stars Max Morrow as the title character Connor Heath. It is co-produced by Heroic Films Company and Shaftesbury Films. In early 2010, Family Channel renewed the series for a second season.

On the evening of 26 March 1997, the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) East Tyrone Brigade launched an improvised grenade attack on the fortified Royal Ulster Constabulary/British Army base in Coalisland, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The blast sparked an immediate reaction by an undercover Special Air Service unit, who shot and wounded Gareth Doris, an Irish republican and alleged IRA volunteer. The SAS unit was then surrounded by a crowd of protesters who prevented them approaching Doris or leaving. RUC officers arrived and fired plastic bullets at the crowd, allowing the special forces to leave the area.

Bajo sospecha is a Spanish crime drama television series produced by Bambú Producciones for Atresmedia. It airs on Atresmedia's main channel Antena 3. The first season was initially planned to have 10 episodes, but about 20% of the filmed scenes were edited out to reduce the number to 8. The first season revolved around an investigation by undercover police officers Víctor Reyes and Laura Cortés, alongside their superior, Superintendent Casas. In May 2015, it was confirmed that the series would have a second season, centered on a different investigation, in which Yon González and Lluís Homar would reprise their roles, with Olivia Molina playing the new main female character.
