Vardar River in North Macedonia and Greece

The Vardar or Axios is the longest river in North Macedonia and the second longest river in Greece, in which it reaches the Aegean Sea at Thessaloniki. It is 388 km (241 mi) long, out of which 76 km (47 mi) are in Greece, and drains an area of around 25,000 km2 (9,653 sq mi). The maximum depth of the river is 4 m (13 ft).

RK Vardar

RK Vardar 1961 is a professional handball club from Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Vardar is the most successful handball team in the country, having won fourteen national League and Cup titles. Also, Vardar is the most successful team in the regional SEHA League having won five titles. The team has also won two EHF Champions League titles.

The 1998–99 Macedonian First League was the 7th season of the Macedonian First Football League, the highest football league of Macedonia. The first matches of the season were played on 9 August 1998 and the last on 29 May 1999. Sileks were the defending champions, having won their third title in a row. The 1998-99 champions were Sloga Jugomagnat who had won their first title.

The 1992–93 Macedonian First League was the first season of the Macedonian First Football League, the highest football league of Macedonia. It was the initial season, after Republic of Macedonia's independence from Yugoslavia. The first matches of the season were played on 23 August 1992 and the last on 13 June 1993. Vardar won the first championship title without loss.

ŽRK Vardar is a Macedonian women's handball club from Skopje, North Macedonia. The team currently competes in the Macedonian women's First League of Handball, Women’s Regional Handball League and used to be a top competitor in the Women's EHF Champions League.

Eternal derby, also known as the Macedonia derby, is the name given to matches between the two most popular clubs from North Macedonia, the Skopje-based FK Vardar and Bitola-based FK Pelister, supported by Komiti and Čkembari respectively, with fans at times infamously engaging in hooliganism during the derby.

The 2013–14 Macedonian First League was the 22nd season of the Macedonian First Football League, the highest football league of Macedonia. Vardar are the defending champions after winning their seventh Macedonian championship at the end of the 2012–13 season. It began on 4 August 2013 and ended on 18 May 2014. This was the final season with 12 teams, because the Football Federation of Macedonia approved reducing the league to 10 teams. Therefore, 4 teams was directly relegated.

The 1994–95 season was the 47th season in Vardar’s history and their third in the Macedonian First League. Their 1st place finish in the 1993–94 season meant it was their 3rd successive season playing in the First League.
