MNL48 is a Filipino girl group formed in 2018 as a sister group of the Japanese idol group AKB48. The 1st generation members have been selected through live auditions in a noontime show It's Showtime. On May 2, 2018, they formed the current 3 teams (Team MII, Team NIV, and Team L). As of May 2021, The group consists of 45 members. Among these members are the Kenkyuusei (Japanese : 研究生) or Research Students.

Contents

Members leaving the group are considered "graduates" and are sometimes given a special graduation show or graduation concert. There are also cases where a member resigns, is dismissed, or gets terminated.

Jemimah Caldejon is the current overall captain of MNL48, after replacing Shekinah Arzaga on June 8, 2024.

Overview

MNL48 consists of 19 official members. On December 15, 2022 at their MNL48 Christmas Concert, they announced of dissolution of teams, they separated by generations instead. In between, they were grouped into three teams. The teams were:

The Tokyo Girls Collection Senbatsu (widely known as Trainees or Kenkyuusei) was established. It was existed until November 4, 2021.

Marsela Mari Dela Cruz Guia, also known as Sela Guia, is a Filipino actress, host and singer who is under ABS-CBN's Star Magic. She is a former member of the all-girl Filipino idol group MNL48. After leaving the group, she signed an exclusive contract with Star Magic in their historic "Black Pen Day" on June 19, 2021. Sela has since then continued with her solo singing and acting career. Starting May 2022, Sela became a regular host on PIE Channel's segment PIEsilog and was later on moved to PIEnalo: Pinoy Games.

Baby Blue is a Filipino girl group and a sub-unit of the all-female Filipino idol group MNL48. They debuted with their lead single "Sweet Talking Sugar" in September 2020, which topped in Egg Music charts in Japan and made them one of the few Filipino artists to make it to Japanese music charts.
