Note: These thirteen episodes were later re-edited into a movie entitled "Magic Adventures of Mumfie: The Movie" by BMG Home Video. This edit is officially given the name of "Mumfie's Quest" by Britt Allcroft Productions and was released under this name in 2014 by Lionsgate.

Mumfie is a special little elephant who lives all alone. One morning, Mumfie sets off to find an adventure and meets some new friends: Scarecrow and Pinkey, a piglet with wings. The three friends set off for an island towards the seaside where they hope to find Pinkey's mother.

The mountain on the beach surprises Mumfie when it comes to life. Mumfie and his friends soon find out that there is more to Whale than meets the eye. Whale gives the three friends a ride to the island where Pinkey's mother is being held prisoner.

33"Pinkey's Mysterious Island"October 6, 1994 (1994-10-06)

The island is a dark, dangerous place and despite a warning from the mysterious Black Cat, Mumfie continues to dance and sing and gets swept away on the wind, deep below the forest. Mumfie's spirits are soon lifted when he finds Pinkey's mother.

Mumfie is captured by Bristle, the keeper of the Rule Book, and is put to work dusting the wicked Secretary's strange bottle collection. While dusting, Mumfie makes a new friend, Napoleon Jones the raven, and discovers the wonders of the Queen of Night's special jewel.

Song: "Just A Waste Of Your Time". "I Must Have My Night" was written for this episode, but was never used. A different arrangement, however, plays as background music in the episode "Foe or Friend?".

Scarecrow and Pinkey are searching for Mumfie. Along the way, they encounter the evil Secretary and the beautiful Queen of Night. After learning to skate across the palace floor, they are reunited with Mumfie.

Mumfie and Scarecrow fly away from the island using the Queen's magic umbrella, towards Whale. Disaster strikes! Aboard Whale, Mrs. Admiral is telling how Mr. Admiral has been captured by pirates. The pirates spot Whale and the chase is on.

Mumfie, Scarecrow, and Mrs. Admiral get separated under the sea. Scarecrow thinks that Mumfie has been eaten by a shark and when he finds Mrs. Admiral, he breaks the sad news to her. Scarecrow is overjoyed when he sees what is behind the big pile of mashed potatoes.

Mumfie and Scarecrow decide to enter the pirate cave, and see mysterious flashes of light coming from an unknown place. An accidental trip and fall separates the pair, but with the help of a new friend, the Electric Eel, the two are reunited and find where Mr. Admiral is being held captive.

Mumfie and Scarecrow go head to head against Davy Jones and his pirate crew, and ask to find the Admiral. They find him in the washing room washing the clothes the pirates wear. Meanwhile, Whale has been trapped in a net and Eel uses her electric powers to free him.

Song: "Real Eel Electricity". "Admiral's Song" was written for this episode
1010"Friendship Is A Circle"November 24, 1994 (1994-11-24)

Mumfie and Scarecrow are held captive inside the same room as Mr. Admiral and decide to write a message to Napoleon Jones asking for help. Eel and Pinkey then decide to team up together to deliver it safely to the island. After Pinkey takes the letter to Napoleon, Bristle chases after them and Napoleon uses his wings for the first time in years. While this is happening, Mumfie and Scarecrow decide to disguise as a new crew member as a method of escape.

1111"The Chase Is On"December 1, 1994 (1994-12-01)

Scarecrow and Mumfie's disguise seems to fool Nasty Nate and his crew, sounding and looking like a pirate. Davy Jones realizes that the new pirate is actually wearing one of his favorite coats. As this is happening, Mumfie finds the Queen's Jewel in Davy Jones' pocket and is able to retrieve it. The pirates then chase after Mumfie, Scarecrow and The Admiral, but are eventually captured. The Admirals then get reunited.

1212"Foe Or Friend?"December 8, 1994 (1994-12-08)

The Secretary's island is in danger, and Mumfie has to save it. Unfortunately, the Black Cat fools him into jumping down into a peaceful meadow-just for him to be sent to The Secretary of Night's holding cell for trying to bring peace and happiness to the island! That is until someone Mumfie knows very well comes to his rescue...

Song: "The Meadows Of Your Mind". "Pigs Can Fly" was written for this episode, but was never used until "Mumfie's White Christmas" with different lyrics.

Mumfie, Scarecrow and Pinkey find The Queen's Thimble in a paperweight, but will The Secretary get it first, or will Mumfie and friends bring the story it's happy ending?

Together, they decide to go in search of Pinkey's long-lost mother and end up on an island ruled by an evil power that forbids laughing, smiling, and joy of any kind. But Mumfie, Scarecrow, and Pinkey discover that their friendship has a power of its own, as they try to rescue Pinkey's mom and return a magical island to happiness.

Note: This is a compilation movie of the first 13 episodes of the series with a few cut scenes and the first "Free as Air" and "The Meadows of Your Mind" cut. From 1996 until 2008, the movie was known as "Magic Adventures of Mumfie: The Movie".

Season 2 (1998)

All episodes in this season were animated by Phoenix Animation Studios. Even though they were produced in 1996, they weren't aired until 1998. Lionsgate accidentally lists episode 27 as part of the D'Ocon episodes, when it was in fact animated by Phoenix. These episodes are listed in the order they are listed in the Season 3 episode "The Album".

Prospective reboot

In May 2014, Britt Allcroft started production on a new season of Mumfie. [1] On July 2, 2015, it was revealed that the kids' division of Zodiak Entertainment, which was behind shows such as Zack & Quack and Totally Spies!, had begun development of the show. [2] In 2022, it was announced that the series had been pre-sold to many networks overseas. [3]

The series was produced by Quality Family Entertainment, in association with Catalyst Entertainment in seasons 2 and 3, for New York City's PBS station WNET, and was originally taped in New York City during its first season and in Toronto during the rest of its run. It incorporated sequences from the British television show Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, which was in turn based on the books of The Railway Series written by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry. The series aired on PBS from January 29, 1989, until June 11, 1993, with four hour-long "Family Specials" premiering in primetime throughout 1995. Reruns continued to air on PBS until June 11, 1998. Shining Time Station reruns aired on Fox Family from 1998 to 1999, and on Nick Jr. from June to August 2000 to promote the theatrical release of Thomas and the Magic Railroad. The series also aired on Canadian television networks such as APTN and SCN. Elements from the show were incorporated into the 2000 film Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

Britt Allcroft is an English writer, producer, director and voice actress. She is the creator of the children's television series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, Shining Time Station, Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales and Magic Adventures of Mumfie. She also wrote, co-produced and directed the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000).

Thomas and the Magic Railroad is a 2000 children's fantasy adventure film written and directed by Britt Allcroft and produced by Allcroft and Phil Fehrle. It is the only theatrical live-action/animated Thomas & Friends film in the franchise. The film stars Alec Baldwin as Mr. Conductor, Peter Fonda, Mara Wilson, Didi Conn, Russell Means, Cody McMains, Michael E. Rodgers, and the voices of Eddie Glen and Neil Crone. The film is based on the British children's book series The Railway Series by the Reverend W. Awdry, its televised adaptation Thomas & Friends by Allcroft, and the American television series Shining Time Station by Allcroft and Rick Siggelkow. The film tells the story of Lily Stone (Wilson), the granddaughter of the caretaker (Fonda) of an enchanted steam engine who is lacking an appropriate supply of coal, and Mr. Conductor (Baldwin) of Shining Time Station, whose provisions of magical gold dust are at a critical low. Lily and Mr. Conductor enlist the help of Thomas the Tank Engine (Glen), who confronts the ruthless, steam engine-hating Diesel 10 (Crone) along the way.

Magic Adventures of Mumfie is a British animated children's television series and movie, inspired by the Mumfie books written and illustrated by Katharine Tozer (1907-1943). The initial 1994 season of the series, spanning one continuous storyline, has a music score containing more than 20 songs. The series was created by Britt Allcroft, produced by The Britt Allcroft Company and Quality Family Entertainment, narrated by American actor Patrick Breen and directed by John Laurence Collins. Mumfie was first seen in the United States on the Fox Kids Network from 1995 to 1996, as part of The Fox Cubhouse. The second and third seasons debuted on the Fox Family Channel. 79 episodes were produced. The worldwide rights have reverted back to Britt Allcroft.

Gullane Entertainment PLC was a British independent production company which produced children's programming, including Thomas & Friends (1984–2021), Shining Time Station (1989–1995), and The Magic Adventures of Mumfie (1994–1998). The company was purchased by HIT Entertainment in 2003, and went defunct within the same year. As of today, most of Gullane's library is currently owned by toy company Mattel as a result of their subsequent acquisition of HIT Entertainment.

David Nelson Godfrey Mitton was a British director, producer, writer, model maker and special effects technician. He was best known for producing and directing the children's television programmes Thomas & Friends and TUGS. During the 1960s, he worked with Gerry and Sylvia Anderson as a special effects technician on series such as Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Joe 90, The Secret Service and UFO.

Sooty is a British children's television media franchise created by Harry Corbett incorporating primarily television and stage shows. The franchise originated with his fictional glove puppet character introduced to television in The Sooty Show in 1955. The main character, Sooty, is a mute yellow bear with black ears and nose, who is kind-hearted but also cheeky. Sooty performs magic tricks and practical jokes, and squirts his handler and other people with his water pistol. The franchise itself also includes several other puppet characters who were created for television, as well as an animated series, two spin-off series for the direct-to-video market, and a selection of toy merchandising.

Thomas & Friends is a media franchise created by Rev. W. Awdry and Britt Allcroft. The franchise revolves around a railway, called the North Western Railway, located on the fictional Island of Sodor. The current title character of the franchise is Thomas the Tank Engine, an anthropomorphised steam locomotive, who works with other engines, including Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby and many others. The franchise began with stories told from Wilbert Awdry to his son. In 1984, it was turned into a television series, which spawned a reboot series, titled Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.

<i>The Fox Cubhouse</i> Television series

The Fox Cubhouse is an American preschool children's television series that aired weekday mornings on Fox Kids from 1994 through 1996. It ran for 234 episodes within two seasons. The show was an anthology series comprising several children's series. Initially starting with only Jim Henson's Animal Show, Johnson and Friends, and Rimba's Island, a different series was shown every day of the week.
