Below is a list of footballers who have played in Australia's National Soccer League . This list is exclusive to those players who have made at least one appearance in the competition between 1977 and 2004.

The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The NSL, the A-League's predecessor, spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League competition run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association.

The Women's National Soccer League (WNSL) was Australia's top women's association football league. Originally known as the Ansett Australia Summer Series for sponsorship reasons, the WNSL began in 1996 consisting of six clubs and continued through until 2004, folding alongside the National Soccer League. The Australia national futsal team represents Australia in men's international futsal. The team is controlled by the governing body for soccer in Australia, Football Federation Australia (FFA), which is currently a member of both the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the regional ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) since leaving the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in 2006. Adamstown Rosebud FC

Adamstown Rosebud Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Adamstown a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales. The club is part of Northern NSW Football and has teams competing in Senior and Youth NPL competitions. The club had played in the National Soccer League between 1984 and 1986 as Newcastle Rosebud United. Adamstown Rosebud is arguably the most famous football club in Newcastle and in 2019, the club will enter its 130th year of competition, making the Rosebuds the oldest NPL club in Australia. To mark the occasion, the club will wear a special commemorative strip in 2019, hounouring its 130 year history and the Australian representatives the club has produced.

The National Youth League (NYL), was an Australian national soccer league run in parallel to the National Soccer League (NSL) between 1984 and 2004. The aim of the league was to provide a pathway for young players to play regular high-level football, and allow reserve players from senior NSL teams to remain match fit. The league was founded in 1984, alongside the simultaneous expansion of the senior competition.
