The William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), representing the College of William & Mary in the Colonial Athletic Association. William & Mary has played its home games at Kaplan Arena at William & Mary Hall in Williamsburg, Virginia since 1971.

The William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team represents the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in NCAA Division I competition. William and Mary Coach, Dane Fischer was hired as the 31st coach in school history following the dismissal of Coach Tony Shaver. Shaver served as the head coach from 2003–2019 and leads the school in all-time wins for a coach.

The 2010 CAA men's basketball tournament was held from March 5–8, 2010 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. The winner of the tournament was Old Dominion, who received an automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Old Dominion was unbeaten on home court this season, winning 15 of their 23 games at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The final matchup between William & Mary and Old Dominion was their 53rd match-up in school history.

The 1976–77 William & Mary Indians men's basketball team represented the College of William & Mary in intercollegiate basketball during the 1976–77 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Under the third, and final, year of head coach George Balanis, the team finished the season 16–14 and 7–4 in the Southern Conference. This was the 72nd season of the collegiate basketball program at William & Mary, whose nickname is now the Tribe. This was William & Mary's final season in the Southern Conference before becoming an independent and eventually joining the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Old Dominion–William & Mary rivalry refers to the U.S. college rivalry games between the Old Dominion Monarchs of the Sun Belt Conference and the William & Mary Tribe of the Colonial Athletic Association. They are the two largest and most historically tenured NCAA Division I rivals in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
