Copenhagen Capital of Denmark

Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark. As of July 2018, the city has a population of 777,218. It forms the core of the wider urban area of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen metropolitan area. Copenhagen is situated on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand; another small portion of the city is located on Amager, and it is separated from Malmö, Sweden, by the strait of Øresund. The Øresund Bridge connects the two cities by rail and road.

Denmark Constitutional monarchy in Europe

Denmark, officially the Kingdom of Denmark, is a sovereign state in Northern Europe. Denmark proper consists of a peninsula, Jutland, and an archipelago of 443 named islands, with the largest being Zealand, Funen and the North Jutlandic Island. The islands are characterised by flat, arable land and sandy coasts, low elevation and a temperate climate. The southernmost of the Scandinavian nations, Denmark lies southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and is bordered to the south by Germany. The Kingdom of Denmark also comprises two autonomous constituent countries in the North Atlantic Ocean: the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark has a total area of 42,924 km2 (16,573 sq mi), land area of 42,394 km2 (16,368 sq mi), and the total area including Greenland and the Faroe Islands is 2,210,579 km2 (853,509 sq mi), and a population of 5.8 million.

Politiken is a leading Danish daily broadsheet newspaper, published by JP/Politikens Hus in Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen Distortion music festival in the streets of Copenhagen

Copenhagen Distortion is a celebration of "Copenhagen Street Life and New Dance Music". With an estimated 100,000 guests per day, it is one of the largest annual gatherings in Europe. The Distortion week starts with 20-40 street parties in the Nørrebro and Vesterbro districts - with an "anything goes" music profile - and the week ends with the Distortion Ø festival with 6-10 stages on an industrial island in the Copenhagen harbour - with focus on new dance music: hiphop, trap, world, house, experimental and techno.

Sidse Babett Knudsen is a Danish actress who works in theatre, television, and film. Knudsen made her screen debut in the 1997 improvisational comedy Let's Get Lost, for which she received both the Robert and Bodil awards for Best Actress.

<i>UC3 Nautilus</i> Privately built Danish midget submarine

UC3 Nautilus was a privately built Danish midget submarine. It was built over a three-year period as an art project by Peter Madsen and a group of volunteers, and cost approximately US$200,000 to build. The submarine was Madsen's third submarine design, and at the time of launch on 3 May 2008, was the largest privately built submarine in the world.

Lukas Graham Danish band

Lukas Graham is a Danish pop band. It consists of lead vocalist Lukas Forchhammer, drummer Mark Falgren, and bassist Magnus Larsson. The band released their first album, Lukas Graham, with labels Copenhagen Records and Then We Take the World in 2012. The album peaked at number one on the Danish charts. Their second album was released in 2015 and earned international attention with singles like "Mama Said" and "7 Years", the latter of which topped the singles charts in many major music markets. The self-titled international debut album was officially released in the United States by Warner Bros. Records on 1 April 2016.

Ulige Numre

Ulige Numre was a Danish rock band made up of Carl Emil Møller Petersen, Nick Lee (bass), Teis Lindeskov Søgaard (drums) and Jacob Ulstrup (keyboards). They are signed to A:larm / Universal Music label.

Jan Persson worked as freelance photographer since 1962 for Danish newspapers and magazines in and around Copenhagen. Early on he specialized on documenting the jazz scene, later also the visiting beat and rock musicians who visited Copenhagen during the sixties and the seventies. His works have been documented in a series of books and exhibitions and his pictures are used on more than 1000 album and CD covers.

Copenhagen Skatepark

Copenhagen Skatepark, also referred to as CPH Skatepark, is an indoor skateboarding venue located at Enghavevej in the Kongens Enghave district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen Skatepark is also involved in the operation of a 4,500 square metre outdoor skatepark in Fælledparken in which opened in 2011.

<i>Rita</i> (TV series) Danish television series

Rita is a Danish comedy-drama TV series on TV 2. It premiered in February 2012 and has run for four seasons in Denmark and internationally on Netflix which was also a co-producer on the third and fourth season.

The Bodil Special Award is one of the awards at the annual Bodil Awards presented by the Danish Film Critics Association. While the Bodil Awards as such were established in 1948, the Special Award was first presented in 2008, and has been given annually to a person or an organization who has done something special for Danish cinema.

Olga Ravn Danish poet and novelist

Olga Sofia Ravn is a Danish poet and novelist. Initially she published poetry which was acclaimed by the critics, as was her first novel Celestine (2015). She is also a translator and has worked as a literary critic for Politiken and several other Danish publications.

Smukfest

Smukfest is an annual music festival, held during the second weekend of August in Denmark. Its location, in a beech forest in the vicinity of Skanderborg, has given rise to the slogan "Denmarks' Most Beautiful Festival".

The murder of Kim Wall refers to a Danish murder case which is also known in Denmark as Ubådssagen. On 10 August 2017, Swedish freelance journalist Kim Wall boarded the midget submarine UC3 Nautilus with the intent of interviewing its owner, entrepreneur Peter Madsen. She was reported missing after the submarine failed to return to Refshaleøen, Copenhagen. The submarine was found sunken the following morning and Madsen was arrested upon being rescued from the water. Between 21 August and 29 November, Wall's dismembered body parts were found in different locations around the area. Charged with her murder, Madsen was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on 25 April 2018 by Copenhagen City Court following a widely publicised trial.
