American singer Lauren Jauregui has received several awards and nominations. As a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, Jauregui received multiple awards including two BMI awards for "All in My Head (Flex)" from their album 7/27 . In 2017, Jauregui received the Celebrity of the Year award at the British LGBT Awards in recognition of promoting equality for LGBTQ. [1] Jauregui featured on Halsey's "Strangers", deemed by Billboard a "long-overdue bisexual milestone in mainstream music." [2] In 2018, she received a Teen Choice Award for Choice Electronic/Dance Song for "All Night" with Steve Aoki. Jauregui also has received an iHeartRadio Music Award nomination for Best Solo Breakout and won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Song: Female Artist for "Expectations".

Fifth Harmony, often shortened to 5H, was an American girl group based in Miami, composed of Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and previously Camila Cabello until her departure from the group in December 2016. The group signed a joint record deal with Simon Cowell's label Syco Records and L.A. Reid's label Epic Records after forming and finishing third in the second season of the American singing competition series The X Factor in 2012.
Allyson Brooke Hernandez is an American singer. She is a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. Brooke began to establish herself in 2017 as a solo artist, featuring on Lost Kings' "Look at Us Now" with rapper ASAP Ferg. She released the single "Perfect" with DJ Topic in January 2018. In March 2018, she sang a medley of songs from Oscar-winning films at the red carpet pre-show of the 90th Academy Awards. Following Fifth Harmony's indefinite hiatus, Brooke signed a record deal with Atlantic. She released "Vámonos", with Kris Kross Amsterdam and Messiah, in November 2018.

She rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, which became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Jauregui began experimenting with different sounds and exploring solo songwriting, collaborating on songs with Marian Hill, Steve Aoki and Halsey. She released her debut solo song "Expectations" in October 2018 under Columbia Records.
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, known professionally as Halsey, is an American singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in New Jersey. Gaining attention from self-released music on social media platforms, she was signed by Astralwerks in 2014 and released her debut EP, Room 93, later that year. She released her debut studio album, Badlands, in 2015. The album was later certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), as were its tracks "Colors" and "Gasoline".

The song impacted contemporary hit radio four days after its initial release on March 1, 2016, and was released as the lead single from the group's second studio album, 7/27 (2016). "Work from Home" was written by Daniel Bedingfield, Jude Demorest, Eskeerdo, Brian Lee, Ty Dolla $ign, Ammo, & DallasK with production from the latter two. The song is primarily an R&B track that incorporates elements of trap music and tropical beats with lyrics depicting "work" as a euphemism for sex. Many music publications included it in their lists of best songs of the year.
Dinah Jane Milika Ilaisaane Hansen is an American singer and a member of girl group Fifth Harmony. In October 2017, she featured in RedOne's single "Boom Boom" with Daddy Yankee and French Montana. After the group's hiatus announcement in 2018, Jane signed as a solo artist with L.A. Reid's HitCo Entertainment. Her first single outside of Fifth Harmony, "Bottled Up" featuring Ty Dolla Sign and Marc E. Bassy was released in September 2018. She followed it with the release of her extended play Dinah Jane 1 (2019).
The 2017 Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held on August 13, 2017. The awards celebrated the year's achievements in music, film, television, sports, fashion, comedy, and the Internet, and were voted on by viewers aged 13 to 19 through various social media sites. A three-hour musical festival called "Teen Fest" and hosted by Jake Paul was streamed exclusively on YouTube with some of the event appearing during the Teen Choice broadcast. Throughout the show, several celebrities – including Vanessa Hudgens, Zendaya and Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony – addressed the aftermath of the 2017 Unite the Right rally and encouraged teens to speak out against violence and hate.
Hopeless Fountain Kingdom is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Halsey. It was released on June 2, 2017, through Astralwerks. The album features guest appearances from Quavo, Lauren Jauregui and Cashmere Cat. Halsey co-wrote every song on the album, while production was handled by Lido and Benny Blanco, among others. Following its release, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the United States and the Canadian Albums Chart. The album was also certified 2× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the US. In support of the album, Halsey embarked on the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour (2017–2018). The album was described by Halsey as having more "radio friendly music" when compared to her previous releases. As a result, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom is primarily a pop and R&B record and features synth-pop and electropop.

It is a guitar-driven R&B song written by Jauregui and produced by Kid Harpoon, about an unresponsive relationship and the assumptions that people have and try to change about them. Jauregui first performed the track in June 2018, as the opening act for Halsey's Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour in Latin America. "Expectations" received positive reviews from critics who praised Harpoon's production and Jauregui's musicianship. The song's black-and-white music video was creatively directed and co-edited by Jauregui, and portrays two opposing facets of the artist.
