Sex and the City is an American premium television comedy-drama created by Darren Star. It is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Candace Bushnell. The show was produced by Darren Star Productions, HBO Original Programming and Warner Bros. Television. The series chronicles the life of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), a sex columnist for the fictional New York Star who explores the world of sex while living in New York City to gather material for her column "Sex and the City". The show also chronicles her relationships with friends Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis).

Sex and the City aired on the premium television channel HBO from June 6, 1998 to February 22, 2004, broadcasting 94 episodes over six seasons during its initial run. The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie is an award presented annually by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS). It is given in honor of an actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in a supporting role on a television limited series or television movie for the primetime network season.

The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Series is a retired award that was presented as part of the Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2015, this category and Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie, or Special were rearranged as Outstanding Costumes for a Period/Fantasy Series, Limited Series, or Movie and Outstanding Costumes for a Contemporary Series, Limited Series, or Movie.

The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie, or Special is a retired award that was presented as part of the Primetime Emmy Awards. Until 1999, the category was divided to award costume designers and costume supervisors separately.

<i>Sex and the City</i> (season 5) Season of television series

The fifth season of the American television romantic comedy-drama Sex and the City aired in the United States on HBO. The show was created by Darren Star while Star, Michael Patrick King, John P. Melfi, series lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker, Cindy Chupack, and Jenny Bicks served as executive producers. The series was produced by Darren Star Productions, HBO Original Programming, and Warner Bros. Television. Parker portrays the lead character Carrie Bradshaw, while Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon played her best friends Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes.
