The Hawar Islands are an archipelago of desert islands owned by Bahrain, situated off the west coast of Qatar in the Gulf of Bahrain of the Persian Gulf.
The Kingdom of Bahrain consists of Bahrain Island and 33 of the p37 Bahrain Islands, lying in the Persian Gulf's Gulf of Bahrain off the north shore of Asia's Arabian Peninsula. Bahrain's capital city is Manama. The islands are about 24 kilometers (15 mi) off the east coast of Saudi Arabia and 28 kilometers (17 mi) from Qatar. The total area of the country is about 694 square kilometers (268 sq mi), about four times the size of the District of Columbia.
Transport in Bahrain encompasses road transportation by car, air transportation and shipping. It has been announced that a monorail network will be constructed.
The Southern Governorate has the largest area of the four governorates of Bahrain, and the smallest population (91,450). It includes parts of Bahrain's old municipalities – Al Mintaqah al Gharbiyah, Ar Rifa' wa al Mintaqah al Janubiyah, and Juzur Hawar. It is the least populated of the regions on Bahrain.
Muharraq is Bahrain's third largest city and served as its capital until 1932 when it was replaced by Manama. The population of Muharraq in 2012 was 176,583.
The Gulf of Bahrain is an inlet of the Persian Gulf on the east coast of Saudi Arabia, separated from the main body of water by the peninsula of Qatar. It surrounds the islands of Bahrain. The King Fahd Causeway crosses the western section of the Gulf of Bahrain, connecting Saudi Arabia to Bahrain.
The Dilmun Burial Mounds are a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising necropolis areas on the main island of Bahrain dating back to the Dilmun and the Umm al-Nar culture.
Sitra, also known as Sitrah or Sitra Island, is an island in Bahrain. It lies 5 km (3.1 mi) south of the capital, Manama, on Bahrain Island.
Amwaj Islands are a group of man-made islands, located in the Persian Gulf to the northeast of Bahrain, near the coast of Muharraq island. They lie 10.5 km (6.5 mi) northeast of the capital, Manama, on Bahrain Island.
Zallaq is a village on the western coast of Bahrain. Zallaq was the home to the Al-Dawasir, Al-Zeabi and Al-Gahtam and Al-Seddiqi tribes in Bahrain together with Budaiya and Hawar Islands. It is famous for the Jazaer Beach. The Al Areen Wildlife Park is also near the Jazaer Beach in Zallaq. The village has many fishing boats.

Wadyan is a village in the island of Sitra, Bahrain. A branch of the National Bank of Bahrain and the Sitra police station are located in Wadyan. Also, the central market of Sitra island is located in Wadyan. In the past, this village was surrounded by a beach, on the opposite side of Al-Ekr village, before car exhibitions take the place.
Al Dar Islands is a group of resort islands near Sitra, in the archipelago of Bahrain. They lie 12 km (7.5 mi) southeast of the capital, Manama, on Bahrain Island.
The 2015–16 Bahraini First Division League, was the 59th top-level football season in Bahrain. Fourteen teams participated with Muharraq as the defending champions after securing the championship last season for the thirty-third time.
