A Bantustan was a territory that the National Party administration of South Africa set aside for black inhabitants of South Africa and South West Africa, as part of its policy of apartheid. By extension, outside South Africa the term refers to regions that lack any real legitimacy, consisting often of several unconnected enclaves, or which have emerged from national or international gerrymandering.

M. J. Mahlangu

Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu is a South African politician and diplomat. He was active in the Bantustan politics of Apartheid-era South Africa, serving as a parliamentarian in the former Lebowa homeland. He is currently a member of the African National Congress, and served as the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces from 2004 to 2014, and a member of the Pan-African Parliament.

The apartheid system in South Africa was ended through a series of negotiations between 1990 and 1993 and through unilateral steps by the de Klerk government. These negotiations took place between the governing National Party, the African National Congress, and a wide variety of other political organisations. Negotiations took place against a backdrop of political violence in the country, including allegations of a state-sponsored third force destabilising the country. The negotiations resulted in South Africa's first non-racial election, which was won by the African National Congress.

Lebowakgomo is the seat of the Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality and was the capital of the former Bantustan of Lebowa. Lebowakgomo lies 45 km southeast of the Limpopo capital of Polokwane. The majority of Lebowakgomo's inhabitants speak SePedi.

Pedi people

The Pedi or Bapedi – are a southern African ethnic group that speak Pedi or Sepedi, a dialect belonging to the Sotho-Tswana enthnolinguistic group. Northern Sotho is a term used to refer to one of South Africa's 11 official languages. Northern Sotho or Sesotho sa Leboa consist of 33 dialects, of which Pedi is one of them.

Seshego is a township in the Polokwane Local Municipality of the Capricorn District Municipality of the Limpopo province of the Republic of South Africa. The township lies directly northwest of the city of Polokwane.

Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Local municipality in Mpumalanga, South Africa

Bushbuckridge Local Municipality(Mapulaneng) is a third-level administrative division in the Ehlanzeni District of Mpumalanga in South Africa. Commercial farming, which consists of pine /bluegum plantations, tobacco, cotton, sub-tropical fruits and vegetables is practised in the municipality's countryside. The municipality includes the southern part of the Kruger National Park. Bushbuckridge is the largest local municipality in Mpumalanga, both in terms of land size and population figures.

Parliamentary elections were held in Lebowa on 16 March 1983. The Lebowa People’s Party won more than 75% of the 40 elected seats in the Legislative Assembly.

Alexandria is a town in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality under Ehlanzeni District Municipality in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Its got its theme of footprints on rock in the mountains of Simeleni. It borders two rivers Bhejane and Ngwenyameni that connect with the giant Sabie River. It is the birthplace of well-known businessmen Moses Tibane, Solly Ndlovu, Petrus Sydney Mabuza "Mshengu" and Welcome Matsane, also the birthplace of the South African drone sketch drawing and electrician ( ), the former Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge Renias Khumalo and late struggle icons such as Kaizer Mgiba, as well as Victor Mkhonto. This village is under the leadership of Mathibela Traditional Council led by Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena who is also a Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa President.
