The United States order of precedence is an advisory document maintained by the Ceremonials Division of the Office of the Chief of Protocol of the United States which lists the ceremonial order, or relative preeminence, for domestic and foreign government officials at diplomatic, ceremonial, and social events within the United States and abroad. The list is used to mitigate miscommunication and embarrassment in diplomacy, and offer a distinct and concrete spectrum of preeminence for ceremonies. Often the document is used to advise diplomatic and ceremonial event planners on seating charts and order of introduction. Former presidents, vice presidents, first ladies, second ladies, and secretaries of state and retired Supreme Court justices are also included in the list.

Billy Eppler is an American baseball executive who most recently served as the general manager of the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). In February 2024, Eppler was placed on MLB's ineligible list for the 2024 season due to fabrication of player injuries in violation of league rules during his tenure with the Mets. He also served as the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels from 2015 to 2020. Before that, he worked as the director of professional scouting and assistant general manager for the New York Yankees.

A special election to the United States House of Representatives for Ohio's 8th congressional district was held to determine the successor to John Boehner, who resigned his seat on October 31, 2015. Republican Governor of Ohio John Kasich set the primary election for March 15, 2016, and the general election for June 7. The winner of the June special election ran for reelection in November 2016 but served the remainder of Boehner's 13th two-year term, which ended in early January 2017.

The Independence Party of Minnesota did not field a candidate for the first time since 1994. Going into the election polls showed Walz ahead; the race was characterized as lean or likely DFL.

He was the 52nd Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin, serving from 1983 to 1989, and held high-ranking offices in the state government, serving as executive secretary and legal advisor to Governor Patrick J. Lucey, and as Deputy Attorney General of Wisconsin under Bronson La Follette.
